Description

Learn how to turn raw wool into fabric in this in depth workshop. You will learn all about how to process a fleece and each of the steps required to create fabric: carding, spinning and weaving. In this whole day workshop, we will begin by covering how to skirt and wash raw wool. You will get a chance to explore different breeds of British wools and see how they compare. We will then move on to carding, learning how to prepare fibres for spinning. Next you will have a go at spinning your own yarn, using a drop spindle. This ancient craft will allow you to feel the fibres and how they behave. Finally, you will weave your yarn samples into a small fabric sampler on a frame loom. You will get to take your very own hand crafted fabric home with you! This is an in depth workshop giving a little taster into each of these processes. Perfect for those looking to get started at processing their own fleeces or who want to have a go at spinning and weaving. No previous experience is needed.
