Design and Weave a beautiful alpaca scarf at Burnt Fen Alpacas
Description
Spend two lovely days at our alpaca farm designing and making your own completely unique hand woven scarf. Working on a Rigid Heddle loom you will choose your yarns from the beautiful natural colours and hand dyed yarns from our Burnt Fen Alpacas herd. On day one you will learn how to warp the loom – designing the vertical strands of your scarf. Once the loom is warped up you will begin to weave - the weft is the horizontal pattern of your scarf. You will continue weaving the following day to complete your scarf. We work in the relaxed atmosphere of my fondly named 'Kurt the Yurt', a traditional Mongolian yurt situated next to our alpaca fields and the alpacas will no doubt meander over at some point to share a carrot or two with you! Each day runs from 10am - 4pm allowing you plenty of time for choice and to really relax, understand and enjoy the process.
What's included in the price?
All materials are provided. Choose from our beautifully soft natural and hand dyed alpaca yarn. We have around 40 alpacas ranging through whites, fawns, browns, greys and blacks so there are plenty of natural colours to choose from! Any dyed yarn is hand dyed on the farm by me, using natural dyes. I also have a selection of sari silk ribbon, locks and other fibres, which you may want to embellish your scarf with. Refreshments are available all day and I provide a delicious homemade light lunch.
