Description
Collet settings are a beautiful and versatile way to secure faceted stones—and in this class, you’ll learn how to craft your own round rub-over setting from sheet silver. Perfect for those looking to expand their stone-setting skills, this workshop will guide you through the process of creating a stunning collet-set ring to take home. You’ll also gain the ability to adapt this technique for different stone sizes, adding a valuable new skill to your jewellery-making repertoire. Who is this class for? This is an advanced-level class, and students must have completed both the Two-Day Stone Setting Course and the Soldering Masterclass (or equivalent training elsewhere) before attending. You should be confident in basic stone-setting techniques, including rub-over cabochon settings and ideally tube and flush settings. This class is an excellent follow-on from our Two-Day Stone Setting Course. What you’ll learn: 🔹 Assessing stones for collet settings 🔹 Different collet shapes and styles 🔹 Measuring and constructing a collet setting from sheet silver 🔹 Preparing the setting using burrs and specialist stone-setting tools 🔹 Soldering the completed mount 🔹 Techniques for setting the stone beautifully 🔹 Variations such as decorative collets (e.g. crown settings) Class details 👥 Small group size – maximum 8 students for plenty of one-to-one tuition 🛠 Expert tuition – taught by professional jewellers with years of experience ⏳ Lunch break – we take an hour for lunch; feel free to bring your own or grab something from the nearby shops We’re always happy to answer any questions about this or other courses—just get in touch. We look forward to welcoming you to the studio soon!
