Blacksmithing 'Design & Make' weekend course
Description
You will design and make your very own forged in fire project. Under Adrian’s technical guidance you will create a unique one-off piece to take home and have as the new family heirloom! You will submit your design ideas one month prior to the weekend so Adrian can give you feedback on the project to ensure it will be successful. On the 'design & make' weekend: once the fires are lit and the health and safety chat out of the way we will get straight down to the business of hammering some hot steel. The weekend is fully hands-on and as well as teaching the principles and techniques of blacksmithing, you will make your own designed piece to take home with you. It is essential you have had blacksmithing experience before hand either with us or with another provider. This is not for beginners. The Forge workshop is situated in the rural outskirts of Yarm, between Darlington and Northallerton so is easily accessible from the A1 or A19. Adrian Wood is a university graduate with a degree in fine art sculpture from The University of London. A chance visit to a forge gave Adrian Wood his first taste of blacksmithing. He recalls; ”From the first moment I hit the hot steel I knew what I wanted to do.” Please note that due to our insurance restrictions we are not able to take any participants under the age of 18 years. Due to the nature of our workshop, we do not recommend participants bring any guests with them that wish to observe the day. We do not have the facilities or space to accommodate people that are not taking part in the activity. Please do message us via the 'message the tutor' button if you have any specific requirements.
