"Saturday 28th September Our 'clayday' with Richard was fantastic. He took us (daughter and I) through the process of throwing a pot on the wheel and watched and coached while I attempted to remember what he had said and what I had done 60 years ago!!! In the afternoon he showed us how to make a pot with clay 'sausages' which I was none too good at rolling! It is always good to leave a course feeling pleased that you have made something unique. I can't wait to go back to decorate my pots. If you are looking for a fun day with a knowledgeable, patient, and caring teacher, this is the course for you. Richard also makes super tasty soup for lunch!"

"We had a fantastic day learning how to throw and hand build pottery. Richard is a great teacher who was very welcoming, patient and explained everything clearly. We came away having made a number of items which we will be returning to glaze in a few weeks. We would highly recommend this as a great day's activity!"

Jessica reviewed: Pot throwing on the wheel for a Half Day

"I booked a Pottery afternoon for a team of colleagues as a celebration for completing a project. The afternoon was great fun and suitable for all the team. Richard was very accommodating with us all and very enthusiastic and informative teaching us the basics of throwing and hand building. We all learnt a great deal from the session and were all able to make something to take away with us. Would recommend as a great fun team activity!"

"My husband and I had a fabulous day with Richard, learning Raku. We had dabbled before but with no success. The results we got on the day were great and it has given us the confidence to do it again at home. The whole day including the lunch was fantastic."

"Best birthday present ever! A wonderful experience, I enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. Relaxing but extremely exciting and inspiring day. Richard is a brilliant, informative encouraging tutor. Lovely lunch provided by Richard's wife. I was so so happy with the results of my pieces. I learnt loads and I went home buzzing thinking about when I can come back and do more! Recommended to all my friends, money well spent. Thank you very much."

Adele, Sharon & Bill reviewed: Raku - learn the exciting art of rapid Japanese glaze firing

"We had a brilliant Sunday with Richard learning the art of Raku. Even with intermittent rain storms, Richard still managed to run the course smoothly. The 3 of us are complete beginners. Richard was really friendly and able to guide us through which glazes and oxides to experiment with. I think it's great we were left to our own artistic freedom to play around rather than the course being more structured. After 3 batches in the kiln we all came out with some completely unique and brilliant pieces to take home. It would have been even better if we'd have made the pottery ourselves previously to have more investment in the pieces - perhaps a 2 day course is a good idea in future? Also worth noting was that we had a lot of refreshments and a fabulous lunch from his wife, she's amazing too. Highly recommended."

"Couldn't have been happier with my raku firing day. I took my mum as a birthday present and we had a wonderful day. We managed to get four firings in one day and a great bunch of people to enjoy it with. Jackie made a delicious lunch and Richard was absolutely brilliant. We both came away with three beautiful pots and both thought it was exceptional value for money. Thank you for a great day."

"I booked a day's course for two people with Richard of Pottery Dayz as a surprise birthday gift for my husband. What an amazing day we had! Richard was a welcoming host and patient, knowledgeable teacher. The chance to have such individual attention was one of the main reasons for booking Richard's course, and I'm so glad I did. Whilst my husband had made some pottery whilst at school (a long time ago!), I was a complete beginner and neither of us had thrown on a wheel before. We were absolutely thrilled with the results and can't wait to go back after our pots have been fired, to decorate and glaze them. The day was paced perfectly, right down to the break for a lunch of homemade soup. I can't recommend Richard's course highly enough!"

"What a treat! A beautiful spring day spent with my daughter (26) and son (24) at Potterydayz. We had a very creative, relaxing, fun day together. Richard was a great teacher - patient and calm! The vegan soup was an added kindness. Would highly recommend this course!"

"We were were very impressed with this course. We do a lot of courses with Craft Courses.com and this came up trumps. I have to say that my wife was far better at throwing pots than I was. There is, of course, no competition between us. Richard is knowledgeable and patient. There is clearly a knack - that I didn't have. I got on better with the hand building in the afternoon. The vegetable soup at lunch was excellent. We have left Richard to fire our pots and he will glaze them as well as we can't return to complete the process - included in the price we will need to pay for shipping. We await a parcel of finished pots in due course. Do hesitate this is an excellent course and we highly recommend it."

"Just had the most enjoyable day at potterydayz. My friends and I were all complete beginners but by the end of the day we had proudly achieved thrown pots on the wheel as well as learning how to coil clay into hand built pots. Richard was welcoming and provided a relaxed teaching approach putting us at ease and guiding us through every step of the process. Would absolutely recommend this experience! Thank you Richard"

"Richard was very welcoming and made us feel at ease. We enjoyed the opportunity to hand build and also try throwing pots on the wheel. Richard was patient and took time to explain, demonstrate and encouraged our own creative talents. We're clearly not naturals but learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our day. A fantastic opportunity not to be missed!"

"The experience with Richard was really really great! It was a calm and tranquil atmosphere, very informal and explorative. Richard gives clear and concise directions, yet still allows you to be creative. He’s very friendly and approachable. We learnt two pottery techniques and it just made us want to go back. Will definitely recommend to others, and go back to do it myself!! The experience would be a perfect gift for others!! The soup was also fabulous!"

"Had a great day with six of us in Richard's studio. Lots of fun and we all came out enthused with some pretty decent attempts on the wheel - even if 5 /6 of us were left handed ( a bit of a challenge on a right handed wheel). Richard was very calm and patient with us all and has a great depth of knowledge. Highly recommended and can't wait to see the fired results."

"This was a birthday present for my husband, Trevor, and it was a big hit! Richard's patience and excellent guidance has spurred Trevor on to sign up for a course. Although I was there mainly to accompany Trevor, I really enjoyed the experience. Richard is so knowledgeable and interesting and he is an expert teacher so we both managed to make some pots. We can't wait to come back and glaze them and we will want to sign up to the Raku day in May. In addition, there was plenty of tea and coffee on hand and the soup at lunchtime was delicious. All in all it was a great day and we shall definitely recommend the experience to our friends."
