"I recently attended the one day Raku Workshop. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, informative course and I came away with an appreciation of different raku techniques. Richard was very mindful of health & safety, especially considering the recent heatwave and working with a raku kiln. He gave very clear instructions and the course was adapted for potters and non-potters alike. A very good day and the group produced some excellent examples of raku pieces. I can highly recommend it!"

"Absorbing 2 hours. There were 6 people on the session we joined a family of 4. Richard demonstrated and explained the basics and then let us loose with the pottery wheels. Depending on your luck/skill most of the group managed to make 3 small pots. We need to make an appointment to go back in about a month to glaze our makes then once they are fired we can return to collect them. A really good 2 hours and looking forward to seeing if our creations survive the kiln."

"What a great way to spend a day! Richard is a great teacher and host, making everyone feel welcome and comfortable during the day, whatever skill level they are at. We came away with some amazing raku fired pots and an experience we'll never forget..would totally recommend!"

"We had a lovely day, I recommend this course. So much information, you will need your notebook! It was a really hands on and interesting day with everything organised and once the kiln was up to temperature we ran through a list of raku techniques with hardly time for lunch… thank you so much for your kind encouragement and for sharing at least some of your secrets."

"This was a great chill out experience with my son , we were lucky in that there were just the 2 of us so we had great attentive tuition and became quite proficient at creating unique one off bespoke bowls ? One negative but it did not spoil the experience I think the environment could do with a good clean up , it's a messy process but it would not take a lot to tidy up a bit more, sorry but trying to be honest in the review"

"We would like to thank Richard for a thoroughly wonderful time. My daughter and I attended for a 3 hour workshop on throwing. Richard has a vast experience in pottery and ceramics and was able to teach us both (no easy task!) how to use the wheel to throw and make a pot! Richard is a skilled teacher and made you feel incredibly comfortable. My daughter and I were successfully able to make several pots a thing I though would not be possible! Richard also taught us other techniques for pot making during the session and we also had a chance to make a coil pot. We would highly recommend Richard and will definitely be booking again to develop our skills further. Thank you again for a lovely time."

"We had a lovely time making pots as a Christmas present. My husband was really good at it and made some great pots. I was not so good but Richard was patient with me and generous with the clay and I had a number of attempts and ended up with some half decent pots. Looking forward to going back and painting them."

The time flew by and Richard was great at supporting us and showing us how it should be done. We both managed three pots each and are really looking forward to glazing them soon. "We spent two hours with Richard for the pottery taster session. It was a brilliant experience from start to finish. Richard is great at not only demonstrating but helping as you start to learn the process. The perfect balance of instruction and letting us loose to have a lot of fun. We managed to make five pots between us with a couple of disastrous attempts along the way. We’re planning on taking some family members for Christmas already."

Perfect group size so you get to meet and chat with new people and Richard is very encouraging of helping you to create se fabulous outcomes and tellkng you about the history of raku and how some of the of the results are achieved.
