Carole Lloyd reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"What a fantastic course. We had a full day with hands on from the moment we arrived until we left. Elaine made the day fun and relaxing and we could ask as many questions as we liked. I had not experience of spinning prior to this day and came away with my first spun yarn. I can highly recommend this course and look forward to being able to join in more in the future. Thank you so much for your instructions and book I have come away with."

Megan reviewed: Green Woodworking - Make a Shave Horse - 1 Day Course in South Devon

"I have wanted to build a shave horse for over a year and finally have a beauty to work on! Was a really good course, Peter was very patient and guides you through new techniques. Can't lie it was hard work but at the end of the day you have a cracking contraption that fits in your boot and you can take with you to workshops to whittle and carve where ever you fancy."

Steve reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"I really enjoyed this course. Mark was friendly and helpful and guided us in making the boxes rather than being overly prescriptive. At the start of the course you are shown samples of the boxes that Mark sells and you can choose the one you want to make (or design your own using elements from a number of styles if you prefer). You are then instructed in how to safely use the various tools/ machines needed to make the box and given the space to learn the required techniques at your own pace (in my case that meant making a lot of mistakes and wasting a lot of wood). I was also impressed with the quality of timber we were given to use, I expected to be using standard timbers but we given beautiful pieces of furniture grade oak to work with. All in I had a fantastic weekend."

Rebecca Sharp reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"Me and my boyfriend decided on a wood turning experience for our Christmas present. We couldn't have picked a better choice than this. Graham is a lovely person who is very knowledgeable of the activity, a great teacher and has an all round fun personality. The activity was really fun and makes me want to do it as a future hobby. We cannot recommend the course highly enough and will most likely return on a future date."

Louise Dixon reviewed: Mosaics for the home and garden

"It began with a beginners day course and now I'm hooked. Working in Frances's studio in the garden by the river, it's the perfect way to create your own mosaic designs. Her tuition is excellent and helps point you in the right direction with her vast experience."

Patricia Bragg reviewed: Introduction to silk painting - workshop at The Mulberry Shed

"I really enjoyed taking part in this silk painting course with Sheila. She is a very talented artist, and a patient, excellent teacher. I love my beautiful long scarf which Sheila steamed, ironed and posted on to me in a beautifully wrapped parcel a few days later. I would definitely like to do another workshop so I can make another one! Sheila's workshop is fantastically set up and very comfortable to work in. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to everyone. It was an amazingly fun day"

Doug Narding reviewed: 1 day introduction to silver jewellery making

"Was given a gift voucher for one of Jonathan's course as a Christmas present, to be honest was a bit skeptical at first as it was well out of my comfort zone...but, wow, what a day, have now totally been bitten by the silver bug. Jonathan's straight forward explanation of how to do things made me feel comfortable from the beginning, we worked through the basics and his support and mentoring was invaluable. Can't recommend it enough, whether you are a complete novice like me or someone with some idea about jewellery making."

Caroline Crossley reviewed: Skelton Rangers Summer Playscheme (for 8-12 yrs)

"My daughter took part in this playscheme, and it was brilliant, a real contrast to some of the more commercial playschemes she has attended before. The staff really looked after her, and she learnt loads of skills about bushcraft and nature, played loads of games and spent pretty much the whole week outdoors. She slept well too....! Thoroughly recommended."

"I have attended three of Craig Worrall's foraging courses now, that's how brilliant they are! The goat's cheese making course was really informative, and it was a bonus to go foraging for herbs and wild garlic to personalise my cheese. I now know how to make it at home too!"

Caroline Crossley reviewed: Small Wire Birds sculpture workshop with Chris Moss

"Chris Moss is a wonderful tutor, and she supported me and the others in the class to make a beautiful wire goose, which I treasure. Other people in the class made ducks and chickens, and they looked great as a flock at the end! Do look up Chris Moss and her work, it really is brilliant."

"What better way to spend an early spring day than driving through the lovely Somerset countryside followed by an afternoon learning how to make several different styles of gorgeous organza flowers in good company. Yvonne doesn't just take you through the process, she passes on lots of options and tips along the way, and willingly shares information to make your continuing flower-making experience a happy one."

Stephanie Talliss-Foster reviewed: Needle felting course with FURZIE at Trumpet Corner Tea Rooms, Ledbury, Herefordshire

"A well-organised class in a great location. The pace of the learning was great and because of the smaller group numbers, everyone could progress at their own comfort level. Really pleased with not only what I made on the day, but the skills I learned. The cost represents excellent value for money - I'd highly recommend going with a few friends as the laughs are as good as the course :)"

Ben South reviewed: Blacksmithing, bladesmithing and metal craft

"I was given a day course with Nigel for my Christmas present this year. I've never done it before, but it was very good fun and I learned a lot in what was a solid day. Nigel certainly has some stories to tell and some very impressive creations to show. I thoroughly recommend course for anyone interested in making things themselves, it was really great fun."

Justine reviewed: One day leather work course - small leather goods

"What a brilliant course!! My husband bought me the two day course as a very inspired Christmas present even though I had never done any leather work before. I'd tried all sorts of different crafts from upholstery to rush weaving but the two days spent with Jason in his workshop was inspirational. He has such enthusiasm and a real love of his craft which is very infectious. He is happy to share his knowledge and teach the skills required to make a truly amazing bag you can't believe you actually made yourself! Jason is very patient and his studio has a very relaxed atmosphere with great views over the hills. A hugely enjoyable and therapeutic two days well spent..... I shall be back for more!"

"brilliant workshop totally recommend it ! learnt loads of simple techniques for great effects, i didnt even know there was that many different techniques to make rag rugs!, really felt like helping to preserve the secrets of an ancient craft, the instant flowers straight on to hats were masterfull too and i came home with a piece i love and the tools and knowledge to try a few cool, new (to me!) techniques.
