Felicity reviewed: Make a Windsor chair

"Ben’s chair course was absolutely brilliant. It’s a great way to spend the evening, learning about green woodworking and putting your new found knowledge into practice. Each session passed in the blink of an eye, all the while having a good laugh. Ben’s a great teacher, and if you get stuck will help you out as much as needed, all with a smile. I’d recommend this without hesitation, and second the many positive comments in the other reviews."

Allen Lee reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"Really really good couple of days with Alex. Proper hands on course. No classroom stuff just a great style of teaching through years of experience. Alex puts you at ease with the tools and the processes from the word go. You look at options on the best way to make something and overcome any hiccups on the way. You get stuck in from the word go and every bit of it is interesting. You choose a design (I wanted to make a billhook which involved a lot of different processes and loads of hammering) and look at whether it is possible. Then you make it using Alex' expert tuition and muscles you've forgotten exist. It delivered exactly what I hoped. Great fun. Ive been recommending the course to all of my freinds. Still smiling two weeks later."

Emma Chatterton reviewed: Fused glass coaster or dish workshop, Stourbridge

"I really enjoyed this class. Jane is a great teacher and a lovely person. She makes you feel relaxed and the environment is creative and comfortable. I was so pleased with how much I learnt, especially since I'm a complete novice! I can't believe I made my coasters and neither do my friends when they pop round for a brew and use them!"

Heather Gregory reviewed: Beginners Weaving with the Rigid Heddle Loom - at All in a Spin

"I came to the course to accompany a friend who wished to do the rigid heddle weaving course and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Dunja is a lovely, patient and helpful teacher who clearly loves her job. I managed a table runner, and have now done the finishing touches and for a first effort am pleased with the result. A relaxing day learning a new skill and the views from the farm are beautiful."

Richard Moody reviewed: One day leather work course - small leather goods

"Hi Jason. I cannot fault the course in any way. The setting is wonderful and the work space quirky yet entirely functional for its purpose. As a complete novice to be able to make a lovely piece of hand crafted leather in a day was amazing! The different techniques used helped me to develop my skills In a very practical way. The course runs at a relaxed yet purposeful way and your input from start to finish was presented in a friendly yet knowledgeable way. You can't help but come away feeling you have learnt and achieved so much. Thanks for a great experience."

"Recently had a lovely relaxing day learning to weave on the rigid heddle loom. Hadn't used one before. It was fascinating to learn how to set up the loom, choose the yarns and design and make a scarf and it was all done in a day. Beautiful surroundings too - very peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend the course and Dunja, the very patient tutor, to anyone who wishes to try this lovely craft."

Marie Wyatt reviewed: Fused glass art experience - no cutting required - Your own venue

"I was looking for a glass crafting activity for a reasonable price and came across this glass fusion experience online. I contacted Ros who responded very promptly and arranged a session for myself and my teenage boy. I had never done glass fusion before and it was great fun and even my teenage boy was kept incredibly entertained, with his imagination in full force especially after finding a glass piece the shape of a mustache (a child's imagination is amazing!). Ros was really friendly and accommodating, and guided us whenever we needed assistance. I would definitely recommend this experience as it is great value for money, very friendly and helpful atmosphere, great fun and you get a wonderful product at the end."

Joe dutfield reviewed: Pottery 6 Week Classes

"This is a relaxed and friendly course. Joan creates a lovely atmosphere in which to learn in her spacious home studio. Both me and my mother in law did the course. She made vases and delicate flowers and I made a selection of pottery animals. Joan allows you to make what you want whilst teaching you all the basics of pottery on the wheel and hand building. Would highly recommend. It's lots of fun and very relaxing. Lots of tea and biscuits too which is always a bonus."

Fiona Cradduck reviewed: Wire & mixed media sculpture courses with James Ort

"I thoroughly enjoyed the wire and mixed media course last week and I thought we were a great creative group. Phoenix studio is in a beautiful setting and James is a very good, encouraging teacher. James showed us how to use the wire and helped everyone with their individual needs, so by the end of the two days I had learnt a great deal and achieved a pleasing sculpture. I can not think of any way the course can be improved . For me personally I was pleased that the course was mid-week rather than during a weekend so maybe keep one course a year mid-week. A wonderful course, thank you Fiona"

Peter Franklin reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I recently completed a one-day workshop with Mark. I’ve enjoyed carpentry for years and really wanted to give woodturning a go but had never previously had the opportunity. The day with Mark was a birthday present – as I’ve started looking ahead to potentially retiring in the next few years, I’ve had a fledgling idea for a while now that I’d perhaps like to set up a small workshop with a lathe. The day with Mark was an ideal time to learn more about what’s involved in woodturning. I learned loads during the day, which was hugely informative. We covered different types of turning, machine tool selection, tool grinding and many other things, and it was great to have the chance to work on a small project of my own – a small bowl that I took away with me at the end of the course. Mark is highly personable and very easy to get along with. He is also extremely knowledgeable and incredibly generous with his time – I not only learned a great deal during the day but also had a lot of fun. I came away armed with a massive amount of information. Mark has prepared lots and lots of notes encompassing everything we covered (so that I didn’t need to worry about remembering everything or frantically scribbling my own notes) – including good advice and useful leads on buying tools, what traps to avoid, etc. These will be really useful in setting up a workshop of my own. I would definitely recommend this course for anyone seeking an introduction to woodturning. Many thanks Mark!"

Gareth Thomas Roberts reviewed: Axe making course

"Had a phenomenal day doing the axe making course that Andy offers. Andy was helpful, informative and most of all patient throughout the entire process. He made the entire process and enjoyable experience and was supportive throughout the whole time I was there. The most important thing I found was the emphasis Andy had on the enjoyment of the process and it very much came across in how engaging he was when making the axe. Thanks for an awesome day Andy!"

Janine Woodcock reviewed: Singing / Vocal Lessons

"I have been singing for many years in a 'low-key' kind of way (solos at friends weddings and christenings etc). Now, at the age of nearly fifty a friend of mine asked me to perform a 40 minute set at a festival she is running (up to 200 people - only friends and family). Excited, but slightly nervous I thought I'd better have some vocal coaching for the first time. I found Laura online and chose her as I was impressed by her qualifications. Laura's approach is great. She is gentle and encouraging; very good at giving feedback/improvement suggestions in a motivating way, and her experience and knowledge is well beyond her years. She is clearly passionate about helping people improve in whichever way they want - and that passion has helped with my motivation too. I have gained top tips on moving between head and chest voice, attacking head voice notes in a powerful way and bringing more expression into songs. Laura also helped me with the set-list order, and will be helping me with microphone technique as the festival draws nearer. Laura's sessions are fun, engaging and highly effective. I recommend her to anyone wanting to improve."

Shane Newman reviewed: One day silver jewellery designing and making workshop

"I had a great day with Bridgett. I was a complete novice when it came to silver smithing, every step was explained clearly and enable me to leave with a piece of jewellery that I can wear immediately. Bridgett has a lovely personality and is a wealth of knowledge and useful information regarding her craft, plus so much more. Bridgett is a great designer and teacher and I would highly recommend booking some time to learn a new skill or build on previous knowledge."
