Ian Young reviewed: Blacksmithing for beginners - one day taster

"Bought this one day blacksmithing beginners course for my dad for Christmas who at the tender age of 77 has discovered through YouTube a passion for metalwork. Of course that meant I had to go along as well. ? Aaron provided a day of instruction and advice that made a 7.5 hour day seem like it went in 10 minutes. Very practical and hands on from the beginning, we learnt so many new skills and very quickly were putting these rudimentary skills to use making lovely hand made items which we could take home and show off. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and after seeing the photos I took of the day I now have my son wanting to come next time. And there will be a next time. We have to come back to check if Aaron has increased the anvil count. We were up to 13 I believe. Thank you again Aaron and team for a day we will both remember for a long time."

"Just spent an amazing day with Bob and Joe Stafford using Pal Tiya to make a fairy door and toadstool house. Very relaxed, friendly atmosphere, excellent tuition and an unusual new medium to work with. Very inspiring!! I would recommend these workshops to anyone with an artistic bent. Thoroughly enjoyable and a chance to learn a new comparatively straightforward skill with an exciting new medium. Many thanks Bob and Joe."

Martyn Satterly reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"I had a really enjoyable day learning woodturning with chris. He's extremely knowledgeable, likeable and a patient teacher. It definitely feels like he wants you to leave with a product that is finished to a good standard and nothing feels rushed. Tea and lunchbreaks were also good as conversation was varied and interesting and chocolate biscuits were on tap! I would definitely recommend this course to a complete beginner like myself or a self taught hobby turner. He also has a display cabinet with some beautifully made pieces for sale. Highly recommended!"

Mog reviewed: Ceramic workshops for all in Accrington - Weekly sessions

"Excellent and well prepared class. Went to the "rooster workshop" and everything we could possibly need had been laid out for us - clay, tools and even templates to make it easier to shape a sculpture. Marion is extremely patient and really good at explaining and demonstrating procedures. I am a complete beginner and not a particularly 'crafty' person, and hadn't expected to be so pleased with the finished sculpture. There are lots of lovely pottery items made by Marion to look at for inspiration too. Hoping to find the time for more classes!"

Samantha Smith reviewed: Realistic and Adorable Needle Felt Animals & Pets

"I would highly recommend this course, it's such a lovely day for many reasons. I'd never done any needlefelt before and was so pleased with my little dog. Sophie's tuition was excellent, and the group size is small, so good for a novice! Very nice surroundings, great food and a lovely bunch of other felters."

Baz Wilkinson reviewed: Woodcarving for beginners - two day course in Suffolk

"I completed Gerry’s 2 day course 3 weeks ago and I’m still buzzing from the whole experience. As a total beginner to wood carving, this course and Gerry’s fantastic teaching has inspired me to continue wood carving. In 2 days I created a piece of woodwork that I ( and my wife and friends) never thought I would be able to create with my own hands! A huge thank you to Gerry for giving me this experience and all the information and knowledge he passed on re: tools, technique, sharpening, and all I need to get started and having the confidence to continue. A huge thank you to Gerrys wife for the wonderful lunch we were treated to on both days. I went asking myself the question whether this was something that I can do and want to do as a hobby. I have come away with a resounding YES to both. I fully recommend this course."

Sue Walker reviewed: Needle felt workshop Robins using rare breed British wool

"I attended a class in Felting Mice, with Louise at Mount Pleasant in September 2017. I had a wonderful day and learned lots from Louise. I had previously tried to make a felted mouse on my own, I watched YouTube videos, but was very unsure of what I was doing and decided that I needed some proper tuition. The mice were important to me, as I wanted to make them as a small hand made gift for my son and his bride on their wedding day. I dressed the groom in a kilt (the same tartan that my son was wearing) and the bride with a lace veil and a tiny bouquet. They were a huge success, chiefly because Louise took a great deal of time to show me any technique that I was unsure of. Louise is a very calm, friendly lovely person. She obviously loves felting, her own models are exquisite! She loves sharing her skill and expertise with her students. The class is relaxed and lots of fun. It is non competitive, and Louise ensured that all students received the attention needed. I never felt that I was being a nuisance when I asked questions and I was delighted with the mouse I made at the class and enjoyed making another at home. I have since made several robins, from a kit I bought from Louise, they too are lovely and I found the instructions in the kit easy to follow. I am looking forward to attending another course very soon. It is a great day out, good value for money, and the cake and coffee at Mount Pleasant is delicious too! Thanks Louise!"

David Greer reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"Thank you so much for the days tuition Mark, purchased for me a Christmas present. I had great time with you at your workshop. Your patience and encouragement with a complete beginner made for a very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable experience. I am very proud of the bowl I came away with (even if there was some of your input into it!). I look forward to getting my ancient lathe up and running in the not too distant future. Thanks again and best regards."

Philip Milln reviewed: Woodturning courses in Hampshire - Beginners and improvers wood turning courses - Turn British, all British lathes!!

"A well equipped workshop and an inspiring teacher come together to introduce the concept of wood turning. A first class introduction to answer the question 'Is this for me?' with a hands on and safe experience that gives a real feel of the art of turning so you can get started . This first experience ends with taking home a bowl that you make yourself. When I go for my next lesson, I want to wreck pieces of wood to focus on technique of applying blade to surface."

Eileen reviewed: PickOne weekend weaving course

"This weekend weaving course is outstanding. James provides excellent one-on-one training in a bright and colorful environment. Each student has a hand in choosing the yarn color and pattern and is able to weave their very own project by the end of the course, which can extend after the weekend by taking the loom home. As a complete beginner, I felt increasingly confident as we learned the whole process of weaving, from warping the loom to finishing the scarf. I highly recommend this course to beginners as well as experienced weavers."
