Alison Sealey reviewed: Pottery wheel throwing and hand building full day

"I had a fantastic day learning to hand build and throw with Richard in his studio. I came to the workshop wanting to learn how to properly throw whilst also identifying and fixing some bad habits I had developed! Richard was fabulous, a knowledgeable and hands on teacher, he talked me through some hand building warm ups before moving on to throwing techniques and tips. Then whilst I was throwing he was super patient and helped me actually throw some ‘proper’ pots! The whole day was relaxing and I have learnt so much in such a short period. If you are unsure if this is the workshop for you – don’t be!"

Potterydayz responded:

"Thank you for the generous review, I am delighted to have been able to help. I wish you the best of luck with your future pottery endeavors. Please feel free to get back in touch for any advice. Richard"

"What a great day. A friendly relaxed atmosphere, clear explanation, plenty of support and working together to gain experience of all aspects of using the loom. I'm probably a rare thing in being a man doing the course but I say to other men be brave and do it, weaving is working with the original machine and it is fascinating."

Colin Iveson reviewed: Make your own blacksmithing tools - 3 day course

"This was my second course with Peat and I loved every minute of it. It adds fuel to the spark of interest you had on the beginner course. The whole weekend is really well thought out. The pace of work will keep you busy for all three days, but it's not excessive. you won't have much time for standing around. There is just enough time to make a few mistakes without falling behind. It covers a lot of techniques making the array of tools, some you actually use on the course. It really gets you thinking about the process of forging and shaping and how to apply the techniques. I really recommend this course to any one that has been on a beginner course or a hobbyist. If you are looking for weekend learning from a true master of his art this is it. I promise, you will be inspired. Colin - course date 27April2018"

Rose reviewed: Enamelling on copper

"This enamelling course was given to me as a Christmas present. I was able to share this gift with my daughter and sister. Dilys welcomed us into her home and workshop and nothing was too much trouble, she even arranged for us to have an early lunch so that we could watch some of the royal wedding. She is an excellent teacher, carefully explaining and demonstrating the different techniques as well as the health and safety of using the kiln. She allowed us to make whatever we wanted and just guided through each method. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable day and being inspired by her own stunning examples, we each made a collection of maple leaves, flowers, a plaque and my daughter even had time to make a small cross. I would highly recommend the course and will be definitely be booking a follow up course to learn the techniques of Cloisonné. Thank you Dilys."
