Garth Powell reviewed: Stone carving in mid Cornwall

"Recently retired, my wife decided that I needed a new hobby and booked me onto a weekend course with Peter at his workshop at the Red Store in Lerryn, a really beautiful setting. Peter is a fantastic tutor and within a couple of minutes I was hooked on the hobby. Peter provides superb one-to-one tuition, all the carving tools, all the Portland Limestone, endless tea and coffee and a superb (home grown) luncheon. I have since, with Peter's guidance, purchased a starter set of stone carving chisels and a mallet and now, whenever I get under my wife's feet (which I seem to have a knack of doing) I head off to the garage and happily chip away........ I have already booked a further tuition day with Peter next month. Give it a go or you'll never know......."

Dawn Peters reviewed: Create a ceramic animal sculpture with Twisted Earth Ceramics at Ilkley Manor Studio

"Highly recommend Twisted Earth Ceramics workshops if you want a lovely day creating something to be proud of. Richard takes you through the process step by step with humour and patience. Each and every person on the two workshops I've done came away amazed at what they'd achieved in the course of a day. We all sculpted pieces that had their own charm rather than exact replicas and I'm sure they'll all have pride of place in our homes. Thankyou so much Richard for a very special day!"

Christine Donaldson reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Cannot recommend this course highly enough! The setting was wonderful (Kerry's house) and the set up very welcoming. Kerry is very knowledgeable (who knew I was burning candles wrong for all these years!) and was happy to share her wisdom. The range of scents for adding to your candle was very good and included things like lavender, chocolate, basil, bergamot, lime, mandarin which meant that every taste was catered for. We also mixed up our own scent to add to a future candle. The end product looked very professional and I have now got my Christmas presents sorted - thanks Kerry!"

Debbie Staton reviewed: Create a ceramic animal sculpture with Twisted Earth Ceramics at Ilkley Manor Studio

"I treated myself and two daughters to the highland cow course, as total beginners i didnt expect to do very well but Richard is a talented tutor and took us step by step to produce a highland cow. I enjoyed it so much that i have been on one of his two day courses to produce a larger piece, again he was so patient and helpful. We all are looking forward to attending more of his classes, word of warning....its very addictive!"

Sharon Simpson reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"As a seasoned workshop participant I can genuinely recommend this as one of the best, not merely in relation to creativity but also value for money. There’s a real ‘feel good’ vibe and a sense of nurturing and wellbeing. To take home a candle I would be happy to gift to anyone was the icing on the cake. I knew a bit about candle making but learned so much more from Kerrylyn who seems to be a natural teacher. Looking forward to the next one already."

Jill B reviewed: Create a ceramic animal sculpture with Twisted Earth Ceramics at Ilkley Manor Studio

"My daughter and I spent a great day with Richard making Highland Cows at the light and airy studio next to the Manor House in Ilkley. I am not at all artistic and have not made anything with clay before, but with step by step instructions, a Highland Cow emerged from the block of clay we started with. I highly recommend Richard's workshops."

Jasmin reviewed: 2-Day Traditional Stained Glass Painting Course for Beginners

"On arrival I was nervous as although I had done some glass painting before, my skills were very basic and inexpert. Nathalie provides excellent guidance and support, so that I was able to test myself and try new challenges. Her encouraging style of teaching and openness to experimentation rather than necessarily having to adhere to a strict syllabus was very beneficial and much appreciated."

"What a total treat the day spent making Rupert the hare was! A day spent doing something just for me, learning a new skill with a wonderful teacher, surrounded by lovely people and having a giggle. In a world where we barely stop to breathe, I would highly recommend you spend the time you do have doing this! I came away from the session feeling so proud to have achieved something, all the sculptures the class made, despite being beginners, were amazing! None of us wanted to leave them behind and can’t wait to collect them in a few weeks. Thank you for a wonderful day that this very busy working, home educating mummy will not forget in a long time. Xx"

Samantha Wells reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Picture perfect setting, welcoming host. I arrived harassed and exhausted and was immediately calmed by the site of the layout of the room. Farmhouse vibes, wood, rustic yet uber uber chic. The class was friendly informative and inspiring. Entirely satisfying coming away with a candle that has been made from scratch and scented the way I wanted. The whole set up was Instagram heaven but I had phone firmly off and enjoyed the whole process just as was. Fab coffee and cake and Kerry was full of soul and energy. Will definitely recommend and would be lovely for all age groups."

Jason Clark reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Has a great day on the course, just the two learners so excellent support and assistance with enough supervision to let you get on with it but enough intervention to ensure what you make is worth taking home. Scope to design and make what you want (within reason), the other guy made a knife whilst I made a doorknocker consisting of a banana striking a banana leaf - see what you make really is up to you, and with help it turned out to be recognisable. I was so proud of it I took it to show my Mum and Dad the next day (I'm 50)."

Holly reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"I received this course as a birthday gift from my Mum. We arrived on the day following the clear instructions and followed the signs to the river. Spotting the picnic table and chairs we knew we were in the right place! Jonathon is an excellent teacher, starting with the basics and building up our skills through the day - with countless cups of tea (and a cake break)! My mum made a silver open bangle and I made a set of stacking rings. We had the most enjoyable day and would certainly love to go back and do it all again! A perfect day! Thank you so much Jonathon."

Samantha Mallett reviewed: Creative Vibe - Glassblowing Sessions

"Being a complete novice I was nervous about the course....but I loved every minute. Ricky was funny, patient and an amazing teacher. I produced four pieces getting harder each time. I really didn’t want it to end. Nothing was to much trouble for Ricky who took time with each of us to produce a stunning piece of glass work. I have recommended this course to anyone that will listen and if you have never had a go...book this course...you really won’t regret it. I’m hooked on glassblowing now and saving for the next course!!! Thank you Ricky. X"

Edna reviewed: Feltmaking OOH the choices!

"I came to Barbara's workshop for the 2nd time with my sister. Although I had tried Nuno Felting before I had a lot to learn from Barbara. We had a fantastic day and I came home with the most beautiful scarf which has had rave reviews from people when I have worn it. My sister has been equally pleased. Not only did we learn we had lots of fun along the way"

Feltworld - Creative Arts responded:

"Thank you for your very encouraging review Edna :-)"

Flora reviewed: Natural Dyeing & Eco-printing, Highlands, Scotland

"Fabulous 2 days. Rosie is very knowledgeable and a great communicator. We spent time outdoors, identified and foraged for plants to use in the natural dyeing process. It was great to find out what plants are easily available and which parts of the plants impart the best colour. Rosie packed a lot in but never overwhelmed. We were even given a chance to try some ecoprinting-fab. By the end of the two days we had an ecoprinted bag filled with colourful samples of the fleece From our dyepots, a notebook to identify each sample and the dye process and printed instructions to follow when home. Unlike some courses the 2 days were uplifting rather than exhausting. Lovely lunch, ideal setting, perfectly organised from start to finish. Definitely recommend."
