jenny reviewed: Amazing encaustic art day course

"Thank you for such a fun and informative day learning all about this ancient and beautiful art form. Phil is a great teacher and gives you a lot of encouragement which means you easily learn and can put this into practice on lots of work pieces that show you technique building up to a finished masterpiece where all you learn can be put into the one picture. I was very impressed with the amount that I achieved in a day."

Deborah Sage reviewed: An evening of candlemaking

"Jo is a wonderful tutor and lovely company. So easy to talk to and ask all those questions you need to ask without feeling silly. Covering the regulations side of things is so helpful, but did show me that actually so many people out there who are selling, don't abide by them (scary!) I thoroughly recommend this course if you are thinking of developing your own range as the advice is so helpful and Jo goes the extra mile to give you tips. Came away with some super gorgeous candles which in itself is worth the course price, and the lunch is lovely in the tearoom downstairs - what a lovely team and great day. Treat yourself as you won't regret it!"

Alexandra reviewed: Beginners candle making workshop - London

"After receiving a candle making kit the Christmas before last, I’d been unsuccessfully trying my hand at candle making for around a year. This course was just what I needed to set me up for success. The content was excellent and it was very well organised. I had a really fun time, learnt lots and came away feeling more confident and prepared. Sarah is a great instructor, very knowledgeable and helpful. The support doesn’t stop at the end of the course either - Sarah is happy to answer questions as you practice after the course which is really appreciated. Wholeheartedly recommend this course!"

"Hi Alexandra, thank you for your kind words, stay in touch and let me know how you get on with the new melter"

Frances Eagan reviewed: Beginners candle making private workshop - Marlow, Buckinghamshire

"I did the beginners course a while ago and absolutely loved it. Sarah is very knowledgeable about everything to do with candle making, and the history of waxes etc. Very relaxed and friendly workshop and It so easy to see Sarah is passionate about her work which rubs off onto her students! Sarah also supports people in their own candle making at home after the workshop. So it’s not just a one off workshop. You have her support and knowledge ongoing. I’ve got three more workshops booked for this year so far and I’m excited about them. Thorughly enjoyable! Thoroughly recommended!"

Candle by Events responded:

"Thank you Frances, looking forward to seeing you a again soon :)"

Jane Scrivner reviewed: Spinning rings workshop

"Loved this day, totally absorbing and totally productive. Kate made it a steady step by step, no complications process and at the end of the day I have a gorgeous, totally unique ring. Excellent value and perfect 'hand held' guidance. Will be booking again as now it seems ridiculous to buy a ring when you can go bespoke!!"

Steph reviewed: DELETE-Business Course in Traditional & Modern Upholstery (Taster Day)

"I am currently working towards the diploma in upholstery with Sarah (this is after having completed the 5 week course which I loved so much!). Sarah is very knowledgeable and is more than happy to share her wealth of knowledge and skills with you. Her way of teaching is very practical and thoroughly enjoyable. She has also helped me find some furniture pieces, tools, materials and given me fabric ideas. The small student numbers also means that you get help and advice when needed throughout the day. A wonderful lady with excellent skills and courses, I can't recommend Sarah and her courses enough."

Mike Howlett reviewed: One to one photographic tuition London - Online

"I worked with Richard on a number of film and video productions as a cameraman (to his director), mainly in the 1980 and 1990s. Having also worked briefly with other film directors like Roland Joffe, Mike Radford and a number of TV directors, I can honestly say that being with Richard was more inspiring and enjoyable than any of the others, and I learnt more about the very craft I was practicing from him than I had thought possible. I actually turned down a potential opportunity to study cinematography at the National Film School partly because I was already regularly working with Richard on some broadcast project or other and didn't want to lose those contracts. There's never any fuss with Richard; his quiet professionalism, his knowledge of photography and his skill at converting ideas into images are second to none, and I wish I had a fraction of his people skills! This may not be a review of his photography course (which I have just chanced upon), but if it helps anyone decide to try his course, I can only vouch for his long-term influence for the better on my work as a cameraman."

Shiv reviewed: Woodwork taster / pendant making course in Cheshire

"I had never made any jewellery before, but love wooden things, loved the look of the necklaces/pendants, so jumped at the opportunity to make one myself. The three hours went in a flash. It was lovely to get out of the city and so Interesting to learn how to make something from scratch. The pendant looks simple, but there were many different stages, the use of different tools and machinery, to arrive at the finished product. Dave is informative, patient, his teaching was interwoven with interesting facts, chats, guidance and support. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to returning. I had such a fun and enjoyable few hours in the workshop, there is a cosy wood burner in there too."

Karen reviewed: Funky felt slipper making, warm & cosy - a 'Quirky Workshop' at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns near Penrith and Ullswater

"I had such a splendid time at the café last Saturday I wanted to write and say a special thank you. I've never been to a craft workshop before, and, given the extensive and interesting range, had trouble deciding which one to choose having received a voucher for Christmas. The felting choice was great. Marieke was lovely and a great tutor. The day was a joy from the moment of arriving and getting a cuppa with the yummy warm-from-the-oven biscuit until it was time to go. The venue was excellent, food fantastic and welcoming friendly atmosphere spot on. My partner was delighted that his gift to me had made me so happy and I'm hoping that future birthdays and Christmases might result in more vouchers coming my way! With very best wishes"

Caroline W reviewed: Funky felt slipper making, warm & cosy - a 'Quirky Workshop' at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns near Penrith and Ullswater

"What a fun day. We went home exhausted, each with a very different pair of wearable slippers. Annie joined in and happily supplied bundles of towels to mop her floor as we added more and more lovely organic soap and water to our creations as we rolled and rolled trying to remember which way up it was and how many layers we'd done. (Future sessions could do with some sort of chart to mark off as one goes along - all the chatting takes one's mind of the job at hand.) Annie's helpers provided a choice of three delicious soups (I tasted all three!) and two puddings for lunch at a table set out in the sunshine in the garden - time to gather our energies for the afternoon. Thanks especially to Marieke who managed to get her instructions across against all the chatter, while making her own perfect pair."

Ros S reviewed: Funky felt slipper making, warm & cosy - a 'Quirky Workshop' at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns near Penrith and Ullswater

"I thought that making a pair of felt slippers would be so easy - just sew up some felt and hey presto ! But no we had to make the felt ourselves ... Lovely Marieke helped us to gradually build up layers of merino wool and patiently explained how to create patterns and colours. We worked so hard rolling and soaping and throwing and massaging and chatting -but what a result. An amazing pair of very cosy slippers which I designed and made myself ! A lovely day - helped by delicious soups and 2 puddings for lunch and scones with jam and cream for tea. Highly recommended!"

Annie S reviewed: Funky felt slipper making, warm & cosy - a 'Quirky Workshop' at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns near Penrith and Ullswater

"What a great course! Beautiful location; delicious, healthy lunch and refreshments; excellent, friendly tuition, complete with dashings of science and history (local and global) of felting.... this course takes your knowledge and skills of felting to a higher level. It would be suitable for the beginner or the experienced alike as there is always room for improvement. Marieke and demonstrates the process in an unrushed, clear, step-by-step fashion, resulting in beautiful, unique, warm slippers. The other ladies on the course were lovely to be with. We shared ideas, thoughts and knowledge. Ideas for embellishment were shared and observed. Annie made us feel very welcome, even offering childcare at the end after school pick-up in order to finish the slippers. I would recommend this course to anyone needing an uplifting day...and desiring special slippers! I still feel a warm glow from it nearly 2 weeks later. Thankyou."

Linda Trotman reviewed: Needle felting workshop - Create your own woodland creature

"A lovely day - thank you Denise. The number of us on the course was ideal - a small group so we all had chance to have individual guidance and it was also fun to chat while we worked. The tuition was excellent and it's given me some new ideas/techniques to take my needle felting forward. I was very proud of my results and Henrietta Hare will inspire me to try more things now. Hope to see you on another course soon."

Crafty Gal responded:

"SO pleased you enjoyed your day Linda! Look forward to seeing what you go on to next using all the tricks of the trade from yesterday! Enjoy! Dx"
