Kathryne F reviewed: Wet felting / needle felting workshop: Private session with Zenia from The Lady Moth

"I was privileged to take part in an online private workshop. I just started needle felting this past year and came across The Lady Moth's work on Facebook. I was very excited to learn more about this great artform. During our session, Zenia guided me through making a duckling. I learned how to start off by sculpting my duckling, how to angle my needle for best results, how much wool to use for little details and a couple different techniques for shading. It really was a wonderful experience. Zenia was patient, happy to answer my questions and very encouraging along the way. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced felter, I would recommend taking any of Zenia's workshops."

Siobhan and Marnie reviewed: Upholstery classes at Sandra Fryer's Workshops

"We really loved the days spent with Sandra on our different upholstery projects and highly recommend her workshops. Both beginners, she was extremely patient with each of us and took time to introduce each stage of the process, explaining the tasks and how to use a range of tools and materials on the way. The small group size is perfect for learning and her enthusiasm is infectious. Sandra is a wonderful teacher, helping the learner to grow in confidence in a very supportive environment and she is always positive and encouraging. She made us feel we could tackle further upholstery work on our own and we went away delighted with our finished pieces. Sandra's interpersonal skills are excellent, sharing her experiences and drawing our attention to a range of techniques over the time spent with her. The classes are suitable for the novice as well as the more experienced. There is so much to learn while having great fun. The workshop is practical and rewarding, as well as excellent value for all the personal attention provided by a gifted tutor."

Sara reviewed: Introduction to Silkscreen Printing in Cambridgeshire

"This was my first try at screen printing and it did not disappoint. We gained an appreciation of the technical skill required for particular results but were still able to produce pieces that we were proud of and could use to create further prints. Judith's studio is an inspiration, full of light, and to spend the day with fellow printers in such a creative space was a treat in itself. Many thanks, Judith, for an enjoyable day."

Pete Newell reviewed: Beginners spoon carving taster session

"I got the ticket for this from a friend and so was not something I would have actively sought out, but as soon as I got into the class and started carving I could instantly see the appeal. It's just something about the feel of a sharp knife on wood and the ease with which you can remove long curls of material, carve nice curves and so forth that made it so satisfying. With the majority of us working office jobs and rarely developing this type of skill, it just feels like a medicine for the slog of modern life. As for the instructor, Steve is calm and clear in his delivery, but you quickly get a sense of his enthusiasm and it's infectious. When our time was up we didn't want to stop!"

Ruth Morgan reviewed: Bring Your Own Upholstery Project - 1 day workshop - Week Days

"Better than any spa day! Such a relaxing and productive use of time to de-stress, be creative, and physically transform something tired and battered into a beautiful creation. Sarah is patient, clear, funny, a very good teacher who advises but ultimately steps back and lets you create what you want and learn from her expertise. I've booked to go again! Can't wait!"

Val Tarrant reviewed: Hand Spinning For All - Norfolk

"I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Theresa's enthusiasm for her craft is infectious and her ability to tailor the course to the individual's own interests makes it even more special. I came away inspired to carry on especially as I was given a small amount of fleece from Humbug, one of Theresa's own sheep so that I could try spinning with a third different type of fleece. I will definitely be practicing what I learnt as I hope to return to take a more advanced class in the future."

The Spinning Barn responded:

"Thank you Val for such a lovely review. It is very much appreciated. Every workshop is a different experience for me too and I was so interested in your historic area of spinning. Do keep up the good work!"

Andrew Hilton reviewed: One day welding course: an introduction

"To become any good at welding you need proper training and lots of practice. This day gave lots of both. Julian explains the theory behind the different types of joint and the different techniques to use and then you get loads and loads of practice, with Julian demonstrating whenever you need it. I arrived having never picked up a welding torch and left feeling quite confident that I could have a go when I got home and produce acceptable results (for a novice !). This was a well-structured, informative and enjoyable day which I would happily recommend to anyone. Thanks Julian."

Jules Farrer reviewed: From fleece to fibre 2-day spinning workshop

"Thoroughly enjoyed the two day course. Elaine offers a wonderful, warm welcome and a comprehensive basic course for the aspiring new spinner. From raw fleece, through all the stages of wool preparation, spinning on both a drop spindle and a wheel, to coming home with your own plied yarn, Elaine offers wonderful tuition, individual attention and an extensive spinners 'library' of reference books which can answer any questions no matter how obscure. What a great grounding in yarn basics! Highly recommended."

Sarah Tomlinson reviewed: Glass painting taster day

"We had a most enjoyable day with Derek on the glass painting taster day. The course was in his well equipped studio. It was well organised and he patiently took us through the basic steps of traditional painting. He ensured we both ended up with a picture to be proud of. Now I just want a kiln to be able to carry on with this absorbing craft !!"

"Hi Sarah, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the Taster Day. I thought you and Andy achieved tremendous results considering this was your very first time using traditional glass paints."

Clare reviewed: SAORI creative weaving day

"My time with Amanda and our wonderful group of weavers was the perfect day. A beautiful day in the countryside with lovely people, creating straight from the heart. The day flowed effortlessly and Amanda was always on hand to offer advice, history and other titbits of knowledge about the world of Saori. The spirit of Saori was in every aspect of our day together. Encouragement, peace, tranquillity and unbridled creativity. I thank Amanda from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to an art that I can be proud of. I hope I can come back again soon!"

BEAUTIFULcloth SAORI Studio responded:
