Brenda Denny reviewed: Stained glass leading for beginners

"Reg and I did a one day stained glass leading course with Jamal, we had a fantastic day, Jamal is a very good teacher and shares his knowledge in a very friendly way. Reg has since bought glass, lead, etc and is busy making a flowered stained glass in his garage, he has caught the bug. I would certainly recommend anyone to have a go. Also whilst you are there check out Jamal’s drawings, I bought one, picking it up next week and looking forward to hanging it on my wall, he is a fantastic artist. Brenda & Reg."

Dave and Gayle reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"We really enjoyed the stone sculpting course. A great opportunity to do something we hadn't done before. We found that Sebastian struck a nice balance of showing us the basics before getting started, support with coming up with a workeable original design, and advice and techniques for carving and then finishing our sculptures. We are really pleased with the end results. Combined with the lovely surroundings made for a great weekend. Thanks."

Neill reviewed: Make and decorate a ceramic bowl in one session

"We both had such an amazing time making bowls with Josie. She talked us through every stage of the process, demonstrating what to do, and helped us to understand why we were doing it. She has such a wealth of knowledge. The process of making the bowls was great fun, and was very relaxed too. We picked up our finished bowls a few weeks later when we were back in London, and they now have pride of place in our entrance hall. We would highly recommend this experience."

Josie Warshaw Ceramics responded:

"Many Thanks for your positive review ...I hope to see you again for another making session ."

Julia reviewed: Beginner’s Soapmaking Workshop in Salisbury

"What a great way to spend a day! As a complete novice in the world of soap-making I was surprised and intrigued by the whole process. Following Catherine's instructions (although I did go 'off piste' at one point and had to be rescued!!!), the class each produced two individual boxes of fragrant and beautifully coloured soap. It's a fascinating subject and we all left with plenty of information, so that we could have a go at home. This, coupled with Catherine's enthusiastic support, meant that there are now another bunch of soap-makers released into the community. So it's all bubbles from here on!!! Fully recommended. Book now! You'll have a great time and meet some interesting people in the beautiful surroundings of The Liveability Centre."

Herbal Harmony responded:

"Thank you so much for your review Julia! I'm really glad you had an enjoyable day and have fun making more soaps!"

Gillian Corrigan reviewed: Ceramic sculpture for all abilities in Kent

"Brenda is an excellent teacher . She was brilliant at explaining to me how to build my sculpture step by step and encouraged me throughout. She was helpful without being intrusive. She had provided not only the basic materials but many additional resources The other people were friendly and the surroundings-we were at Godington House-beautiful. I made a green man mask and every time I look at it it makes me happy. Oh and there’s loads of cake and tea and coffee whenever you want."

Trevor Turner reviewed: "West Coast Chair" making course - Scottish Highlands

"After doing the 2 day 'Highland Stool Course' last year and learning some new skills it was great to produce a really useful 'one-off' piece of furniture that gets used daily, so time to step up a level and decided to go for the 5 day West Coast Chair course, (another Xmas pressie from my wife). Another great week of weather predicted, and it did not fail, nothing better than to work outside in a beautiful location and in great company. I think everyone has a few doubts as to whether they can produce a beautiful piece of practical furniture that has come from such simple materials and new found skills, Aaron's teaching methods are clear, simple, and not hurried, he is always on hand to guide you through each stage, he encourages you to be expressive in your creation and you soon realise that any self doubt is soon left behind. At the end the week you have a lovingly crafted, one-off practical piece of furniture that you are proud of and it looks great. Many thanks Aaron for another great course, passing on of skills and methods and patience.... Regards Trevor. The only dilemma now is which course next....."

Diane reviewed: Needle felted dogs workshop with Frankie and Sidney, South Yorkshire.

"I attended my first class with Mandy last week and highly recommend her needle felting classes. I learnt lots of new skills, met some lovely people, all whilst drinking coffee and eating cake! What’s not to like? I came home with a gorgeous, me made needle felted dog, a mini replica of my furball. Mandy is a very patient, helpful tutor and we shared lots of laughs throughout the day. Whether you are a beginner, or a more experienced needle felter, I highly recommend Mandy’s craft courses. I am already looking forward to my next one with Mandy xx"

Jules reviewed: Beginner’s Soapmaking Workshop in Salisbury

"I had a very enjoyable and relaxing day on Catherine's soap making course. Catherine was very friendly and knowledgeable on her subject. The day was really well structured and very clear handouts were given out to keep. Once we had learnt the fundamentals, we had different recipes to choose from, absolutely loads of ingredients to choose from, and we each made two beautiful batches of natural soap to take home. It was a very inspiring day and I can't wait for my soaps to cure so I can cut them to see how pretty they have turned out !"

Herbal Harmony responded:

"Thank you for your review! Really glad you enjoyed the day and hope you feel inspired to make more soap!"

Leanne Fry reviewed: Upholstery course - bring your own project

"I have just spent 2 weeks with Polly learning about upholstery and following through on a long term pipe dream of learning to upholster! I took a leap of faith after seeing Polly’s upholstery course listed on CraftCourses and I am so pleased I found it, I couldn’t recommend Polly enough! From her delightful studio in beautiful Falmouth to her personalised and intimate approach to teaching, Polly is a creative, intelligent, patient, perfectionist helping you learn the art of deconstruction and reconstruction of furniture traditionally and comprehensively! The course is extremely reasonably priced, the learnings clear and creative and you even get a tailor made delish lunch to boot! I feel inspired and excited about applying all Polly has taught me and excited to be returning regularly for top up / specialist learnings. Polly’s a wealth of knowledge and so lovely. Can’t wait to come back!"

Amanda Friend reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"What a fab day! Lee makes everyone feel very welcome, relaxed and at home. His tuition skills are excellent and you never feel like you're too embarrassed to ask for help as he’s so accommodating of everyone’s needs and levels. The day leaves you wanting to learn and practice more. You know you’ve had a good day when you have completely zoned out of all the other things going on in your life and just been absorbed into this. It was a really interesting way of looking at a piece of artwork - dissecting it backwards (and in reflection) to get your end results. Also how blending colours just on the one layer can create interesting depth and effects. Really good for the brain! And of course the delicious soup and brownies are really good for the tum ?. I’ll definitely be going again and would definitely recommend it!! Many thanks Lee for a fabulous course and follow up!"

Thank you Phil!"

"Carole is superb at explaining the art of Glass Fusing. Although I had done a little before, I learnt more about the science behind glass fusing from Carole. Groups are small (max 3) and there is plenty of time to produce your ideas. Have just collected my fired items and I’m thrilled with the results. I will be back !"
