Description

A fused glass taster course AND a Cornish cream tea! This course is an ideal way to celebrate a special birthday with friends and family, a holiday treat, or as a hen party activity. Would you like to experience a taste of the fascinating world of glass fusing AND a Cornish cream tea? Then come and enjoy an afternoon in my North Cornwall based studio and create your own fused glass. Choosing from the colourful array of sheet glass, glass pebbles, enamel paints, inclusions, glass frit (small grade pieces of glass) and stringers (very thin 'strings' of coloured glass) you will make a trinket dish and sun-catcher hanging. With as much help as you need, there are three examples to choose from for the trinket dish and the sun-catcher with lots of guidance to help you create two pieces of fused glass to be proud of. The course runs for 3 1/2 hours with a break for a delicious homemade Cornish cream tea, and then back to finishing your designs ready to put in the kiln for firing. After firing, you can either collect your pieces in person a couple of days later, or I can post them to you with a small charge to cover the post and packing. With a minimum booking for 2 students and a maximum capacity of 6 students, this course is an ideal way to celebrate a birthday, holiday treat or a hen weekend activity or just to dip your toes into the fascinating world of fused glass. What's included in the price?

All safety equipment, materials, tuition, firing of your glassy creations and a large dollop of fun and creativity are all in included, as well a delicious homemade Cornish cream tea. Your items can be collected in person a few days later, or posted off to you with a small extra charge to cover P&P, if you are unable to collect.

I am a self taught fused glass artist with over 15 years experience of teaching the fascinating art of kiln forming glass. At the various craft fairs I attended, I kept getting asked if I taught classes. Could I.....would I? so I started and I absolutely love it! We live in gorgeous North Cornwall where our lovely spacious studio offers the perfect setting for an Afternoon Taster Course, a Full Day Introduction to Glass Fusing or a One to One course exploring the world of glass fusing. And according to my students, the food's not bad either! :)

"What a fantastic half-day my Sister and I had at Amanda's studio! We started with an introduction to the different types of glass and how they can be used to create different effects, followed by a demonstration of glass cutting techniques and plenty of time to practice. We then paused for a lovely cream tea, which gave us a chance to chat about what we were planning to make and how, before it was back to the studio to get stuck in! We both made a coaster-sized piece and a larger, hanging piece, which Amanda fused for us after the workshop and then sent on. All pieces have arrived beautifully wrapped and in tact and we are so pleased with them - can't recommend this course enough!"

"Amanda has a lovely bright well organised studio . There is a vast range of different glass products one can use . A bit like being in a sweet shop ! In the half day I had , I made an Autumn based glass tile , using various coloured glass Frits and glass spaghetti . Also I made an book mark size hanging glass scene based on the Cornish countryside . This required glass cutting and a bit of grinding . We had an enormous cream tea , hot scones etc ! It being the last day of my holiday , Amanda posted my work to me , beautifully wrapped and came in one piece ! Recommended!"
