Weave a scarf in a day - Bingley, West Yorkshire
Description
'Weave a Scarf' is a full-day beginners weaving workshop at the Crafthouse in Bingley, West Yorkshire on Jan 18th 2025 (please get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button if you require more than 1 place and I will check availability with the venue). You will design your scarf, create a warp, thread your loom, and weave your own unique scarf to wear by the end of the day! In these beginner workshops you will be expertly tutored by Central Saint Martins trained weaver Anne Crowther (Daisy Florence Design) using Ashford looms, which are suitable for those new to weaving. I have 6 looms available, so each workshop is delivered to a small group which means everyone is fully supported throughout the day. 'Weave a Scarf in a Day' is also available at other venues - please scroll down to the 'see all listings' option below for other details.

My love of weaving began as a child with a small Spears weaving loom, but it wasn’t until my textile degree at Central Saint Martins London, that I really became drawn to weaving. For many years after graduating I explored, experimented, and exhibited my woven textiles, all created on my beautiful George Wood Dobby loom - a huge floor loom that required a studio space in a mill! Alongside weaving I taught FE & HE textiles until I took time out to be with my young family. In 2017 I established my mobile weave studio and began sharing my love of weaving with anyone and everyone! I’ve had lots of positive feedback about my workshops and have gained an excellent reputation for delivering supported and informative weave workshops for beginners across Yorkshire and beyond. (I also seem to be responsible for a considerable number of looms being purchased by participants who found their ‘happy place’ and a new hobby weaving - ooops!) The Ashford Rigid Heddle looms I use for workshops are considerably smaller looms than the dobby loom and one of the great things about them is that they can be set up in the blink of an eye compared to a multi shaft loom! These looms are great for beginners but have loads of scope for experimentation and pattern making for more confident weavers and best of all no additional equipment is required! To start your weaving journey there is the option for you to join one of my classes at a yarn shop or venue across Yorkshire or why not get a group of friends together and I can bring my looms to you? If you love yarn then you’ll love weaving!
