Pole lathe turning - locking lidded bowls
Description
This course is taught by Ali Asadi an experienced green woodworker and teacher. Turning a locking lidded box is a more advanced course, involving lots of new techniques and different tools. It is only suitable for those who are already familiar with turning and have previously turned a few bowls and cups. (If you are a beginner, please do not sign up for this course.) Due to the advanced nature of the course numbers are limited to just four students. This is a two-day course. On the first day the course will start with a demonstration of splitting a big log to get a good size quarter sawn billet for a body and lid. We will then provide rough blanks for everyone to use. These will require a small amount of axing before we go straight to turning our parts. For the second day we will concentrate on turning and fitting the lid. When the body and lid are ready we will fit the lid on the box and adjust until you are able to lock the lid to the box.
