Description
Spend a day learning new skills in the woods. Use a variety of traditional tools and devices to make your own wooden tools and utensils from green wood. Start your green woodworking journey by making a mallet, the essential bopper for all your future projects. Then learn how to use a shave horse to carve a wooden cooking utensil, a great project to understand the principles of green woodworking. This course will be held under a large shelter but please come dressed for the weather as we will be outdoors for the whole day. No previous experience required.
What's included in the price?
Over the duration of the course we will cover: • Introduction to green woodworking tools and devices • Tool safety • Wood selection • Making a mallet from ash • Principles of splitting with mallet and froe • Roughing out blanks for wood carving • Making a wooden cooking utensil using the shave horse and draw knife • Finishing with carving knives • Maintaining and sharpening tools Hot drinks provided, please bring a packed lunch.
