Enjoy a fun interactive expressive course and learn how to drawi in charcoal and pencil. Our expert tutor who is a Fellow of The Royal Society of the Arts will guide you through all the materials you need and demonstrate and teach the techniques required to get the best results and enjoyment out of this wonderful medium. Using the safest possible modern materials you will learn traditional and contemporary oil painting techniques. Class numbers are kept to a maximum of eight to ensure quality tuition from a professional artist who has been commissioned and awarded mutiple times by the Arts Council England and exhibited internationally with positive press reviews. You can rest assured of a quality experience and of the breadth of knowledge and skill.

What's included in the price?

Maximum of 8 participants to ensure the highest quality of experience. Tools, materials, protective aprons, refreshments throughout the week and a light lunch each day are all provided. Dietary requirements catered for (please state when booking). Parking near studio (we regret that due to the rural location it is not fully accessible for wheelchairs).

What you will need

Upon booking a materials list will be supplied or you can purchase a kit which contains everything you need to get you up and running. As a brief outline you will need some basic materials. Oil painting brushes, oil painting medium, basic oil paints of approximately 6 colours (sometimes an additional colour is required dependent on the subject), some odourless mineral spirits. And something to paint on such as a primed canvas.

Ernie is an artist who paints in oils and draws in pencil, charcoal and ink.  He exhibits internationally and his artwork is in international collections.  He teaches, demonstrates and has been funded by the Arts Council England, as well as others. Trained under William Calladine who apprenticed to the last living Dutch old master Jan Hendrik Eversen in techniques used by the old masters.  Also studied the techniques of artists such as Turner, Constable etc.
