The Art of Drawing - a creative approach. Suitable for all levels of artistic experience, this class introduces exercises designed to encourage an expressive drawing practice. Alternating between large and small scale, and locations both indoors and out (weather permitting) we explore various ways of 'making marks' - drawing! Using chunky graphite sticks and felt pens, oil pastels and biros, and feathers dipped in ink, we investigate some of the endless possibilities for expression that the direct action of drawing provides. We begin the class with simple warm-ups - gestural drawings on large paper. Blind contour drawings follow, as a way to improve hand/eye coordination without the pressure of making "accurate" images. As the session progresses, each student will begin to develop a unique visual language.
