Description

Expressive painting in soft pastel... A three-day workshop with artist Richard Suckling. On this wonderful course, we will concentrate on creating paintings influenced by landscapes, seascapes, and flowers in soft pastel where you will be encouraged to push your interpretation of a subject to create an expressive and personal finished painting. You will be taught various painting and drawing techniques available to a pastel artist, to see how you can make an exciting and contemporary painting with elements of abstraction. Surrounded by the stunning landscape of Exmoor and North Devon there will be plenty to inspire you!

What's included in the price?

All materials except soft pastels. Richard is happy to suggest makes of pastel that you might need. Also, bring a sketchbook. Cake, refreshments, and lunches are included (please let us know of any dietary restrictions Anyone who wishes to do the course residentially will receive a 20% discount on our lovely accommodation when staying for three nights or more.

Moor and Sea is set on Exmoor five minutes drive from the sea at Lynmouth, surrounded by stunning views. Bridget is an artist working in glass, print and paint. As well as running her own workshops in stained and fused glass she hosts courses run by other artists in oil painting, batik and Indian miniature painting. These inspirational workshops are held in the lovely airy art studio at Moor and Sea Holidays with beautiful views over Exmoor. For those coming from further afield, we offer discounted rates for our self catering lodges making a wonderful creative short break.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my three days studying with Richard. He was a kind, insightful and encouraging teacher and I certainly gained confidence in this medium during the course. I left feeling very inspired and encouraged! Bridget and Richard were perfect hosts; accommodation was thoughtfully presented, spotless and very comfortable. "I really enjoyed this three day exploration of the wonders of the vivid pigments of pastels. Richard is a great artist and also an inspirational teacher. We all benefitted from his informative demonstrations, and I particularly liked his guidance that allowed individual expression and style. I enjoyed being able to stay on site in the comfortable and stylish Moor and Sea accommodation, where Bridget and Richard gave us a warm welcome and the just delicious soup lunches. The only disappointment was the snow which meant that I couldn’t explore more of the beautiful coastline, but that can be rectified by booking on to another of the Moor and Sea courses :) !"
