Description

On this practical, hands-on course, you will learn to use traditional wood carving techniques to create a carving from limewood. No previous experience is required; you will be able to work at your own pace on a range of potential projects suitable for different experience levels. Stage-by-stage instructions and demonstrations will guide you through every element of the process towards a high quality finished carving. The course runs from 10am - 4pm, over TWO DAYS. Geraint Lloyd, the tutor, has 25 years’ experience working in both a commercial setting, carving architectural and sculptural pieces, together with teaching at multiple venues up and down the country during that time. At times I was unsure if I would finish my project but I did with 15 minutes to spare! Middleton Hall is a lovely location, and it was idyllic working on the lawn in the sun. "What a wonderful two days I have just spent.... I knew nothing about woodcarving and the course with Geraint was exactly what I hoped it would be. The individual work places, the introduction to tools and how to use them, the right choice of subject - I did an ammonite (wanted to do the hares but Geraint wisely said too much too soon!!) Geraint came around with advice and skill just when I needed him every time!! The location at Middleton Hall and the weather were perfect too. Go for it if you are at all interested....!!!"
