Description
Learn the historic art of traditional wood carving with two classically-trained and professional wood carving tutors, Joseph Murphy and Cassidie Alder. You will leave confident and equipped with the skills you need to develop your own wood carving practice and create your own work. You will go home having produced your own wall-hanging or free-standing relief carving for your portfolio. What will I learn? The course begins with the fundamentals of choosing the right tools, professional tool handling and tool maintenance. Course attendees will then undertake a small chip carving project to practice their tool skills. Attendees then have a choice between two relief carvings (ornamental and figurative) as their main project, gaining experience of the process from start to finish, from marking out, to roughing out, to detailing and finishing. Additional Information Parking is available on site. There will be a one hour lunch break each day.
