Description
Immerse yourself in the heritage craft of hurdle making at Nettlecombe Craft School, set among the countryside and landscapes that have supported this tradition for centuries. Open to all experience levels, this workshop will introduce you to the essentials of green woodworking as you split, shape, and weave hazel rods into your own handcrafted hurdle. Working with traditional tools like billhooks and mallets, you’ll gain a practical understanding of techniques that can be applied across greenwood working projects. The exact project will be decided on the day, giving you the chance to create a unique piece, whether it’s a fence panel or garden feature, plus you’ll be given tips and tricks to help build your skills at home. Surrounded by the peaceful woodland, you’ll feel connected to the history of this craft, and with all tools and materials provided, you can focus fully on the joy of traditional woodworking.
