Description

Thank you. Create a simple and elegant seamless 3D pod using felted wool in colours of your choice. You will learn how to make a pattern, layout the wool, and wool it into a permanent shape using only soap and water! No previous experience of felting is required, all abilities welcomed. Your tutor will be Emma Jackson, a felt maker with over twenty five+ years experience teaching, designing & making felt for her award winning textiles company, Silversoles. The workshop will take place in her home studio in South Birmingham with a small group of no more than six. Please note: the studio is situated at the bottom of a garden with one step up to access the building. The workshop starts at 10am and runs until 2:30pm, (please arrive at 9:45 for a 10am start). What's included in the price?

~ All materials and equipment are provided. ~ Illustrated handouts notes are offered to enable you to continue to practice what you learn during the workshop. ~ Light refreshments. Do I need to bring anything? If you have a stash of yarns, fabric or other material (and which of us that love textiles doesn’t?!) bring along any bits you'd like to incorporate into your work. We suggest you bring along a camera/camera phone to help your record your work during the workshop. Should I wear specific types of clothing? Wear old clothes and comfortable footwear. If you have a plastic laminated apron, do bring it along to protect your clothing. We do have a selection of fabric aprons for your use. Do I need to be able to felt to attend this workshop? Some basic wet felting experience will help you. However, all abilities are welcomed as this workshop is suited for beginners and beyond.
