Description

Next promoted date: Sunday 19th October 2025. Join us in the heart of the Meon Valley in Hampshire, for a fun, creative day. Fine and flexible wire is a lovely material to work with, enabling you to create characterful objects, with a drawn-like quality to them. You’ll also get the opportunity to use recycled metal foil for embossing. We will explore joining techniques with wire, alongside: wrapping, shaping and sculpting, to create festive angels. Metal foils are also great materials to explore, enabling you to cut and emboss your designs, creating a range of flying cats, dogs, birds and other winged creatures of your choice; they are sure to take pride of place in your home, or if you can bear to part with them, they’ll make great gifts and present toppers. This workshop will suit folks with experience of different creative processes and techniques. About the tutor: Liz Wellby is a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 30 years she has lived and worked. Home for Liz, her husband and a cat called Bert, is now a small village on the edge of the Peak District. This workshop is suitable for those with a range of creative experiences. We will hold the workshop in our beautiful thatched Long Barn at Meon Springs. It is an inspiring venue set on a working farm in the South Downs National Park. Please bring along: several empty tomato purée tubes and an apron.

What's included in the price?

The workshop will run from 10 - 4 pm, with places limited to 12, including tuition, materials and use of equipment, with refreshments served throughout the day - just bring your lunch.
