Description

These classes are mixed ability sculpture courses exploring traditional and modern approaches to fine art. Beginners are introduced to a range of materials, observational techniques and ideas development, whilst those with more experience are encouraged to follow individual project work. Class size is up to a six maximum to allow each individual the support, time and space to explore materials, techniques and ideas in a supportive and open approach to imagination. Classes are offered on a termly 10 week basis and are taught by Ivan Daggett who is an established tutor in Fine Art. Monday evening 7.00 pm - 9.30 pm - £225 for 10 week term Thursday morning 10.00 am - 12.30 pm - £225 for 10 week term Thursday evening 7.00 pm - 9.30 pm - £210 for 10 week term (All prices include basic materials)

What's included in the price?

Small classes (up to 6). Materials are included (depending on size of work). Cost of firing ceramic work for sculpture is not included. Small charge for tea and coffee per term (£3.00 per term - fresh coffee and quality tea!)

"I have been attending Ivan’s drawing and painting class for a number of years and started as a complete beginner. In his class I have used pastels, ink, charcoal, watercolour, acrylic, gouache, oil and any combination of media. Ivan’s coaching has given me the confidence to work with any medium and any subject. Nothing is wrong and there are no rules. I would encourage anyone to join one of the classes."

"I've been attending Ivan's sculpture classes for just over a year now and have found these classes to be a fantastic route to expressing my creative side. I went along as a total beginner. Ivan is very supportive and helpful with regard to idea development and the technicalities of creating your vision. I have worked in both clay and wire so far, but there are many more mediums to explore. I find my time there to be both challenging and relaxing, and I gain inspiration not only from Ivan but also from fellow class members. I highly recommend this course."

"Sculpture Workshop at Parndon Mill I have attended a Thursday morning group with tutor Ivan Daggett since January 2016. The prospect of three hours in a studio in the beautiful environs of Parndon Mill has made this one of my favourite mornings. My work in 3D, prior to starting this course, was primarily in clay. I created ceramics and sculpture by hand building, generally on a small scale. I have also worked in wood and wire. Ivan’s studio offers a much broader range of opportunities and has enabled me to experiment with carving in stone, plaster and composite materials as well as creating a latex and plaster mould in order to replicate a figure originally created in clay. My work in the past year has been challenging and rewarding. Ivan is on hand to help develop ideas, suggest materials and guide students towards achieving the best results. One learns from him and from the others in the group, which is friendly and supportive. It is a great class and I look forward to increasing my skills and embarking on further exciting projects over the coming months."

"I have attended Ivan Daggett's sculpture classes for many years and find Ivan an excellent tutor. He has the ability to draw ideas from you without forcing you to his copy his own way of working. He is a very talented sculptor and can give guidance on the great variety of materials that can be used for sculpture. During my time attending his classes I have carved stone,wood and plaster, modelled with clay and worked with wire, both in abstract and human form.5"
