Carving a Wooden Spoon

X

Description

Learn a traditional rural craft when carving your own wooden spoon from locally sourced green wood. The techniques you will use stem back hundreds of years. First you will be taught how to safely use a variety of hand tools before learning to split wood and develop knife and chisel skills. You will then create your own wooden spoon that can be used in your home, and even passed down as a family heirloom. Join us in our fabulous outdoor classroom at Nower Wood, specially designed for rural craft classes like this. The central fire keeps it cozy while keeping out any early summer chill. You will benefit from the expertise of the very experienced woodland tutor, Chris Knight. Tutor profile: A lifelong outdoor enthusiast and advocate, Chris has over 10 years experience as a Forest School Leader and Outdoor Learning Tutor. He has also enjoyed over 25 years success as a commercial trainer. This combination of roles and experience makes Chris well placed to deliver outdoor learning and forest school to students from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups.
