Description
A two-day course specifically aimed at complete beginners and those wood carvers who wish to advance their skills but no previous experience is needed. This practical, hands-on course is the perfect introduction to heritage craft of wood carving, within a friendly and creative environment. You will learn: 1/ Chisels and mallets and how to use them safely 2/ How to set out your project 3/ Wood grain 4/ How to sharpen your chisels 5/ Create a high relief carving or a carving 'in-the-round' 6/ How to finish you woodcarving Pete will guide you through the basics of wood carving and you will learn to use traditional wood carving skills in the creation of your very own masterpiece. You will gain an understanding of the processes involved and, by the end of the two days, will have completed and will be able to take home, a carving in lime wood - as well as, hopefully, a new found passion for your new hobby. Workshops are held within our studio at the beautiful Sudbury Courtyard, Derbyshire which is set on the edge of the grounds of the National Trust Sudbury Hall and nestled on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The perfect environment for inspiring your creativity.
