"A very enjoyable upholstery Taster Day with Sarah, she is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. I had an introduction into reupholstering an overstuffed chair in the traditional method. Sarah explained the processes very clearly and provided sanitised equipment along with mask and gloves. We each had our own designated work area to allow social distancing. I felt confident and secure with the way Sarah managed our welfare regarding Covid thoughout the day. Sarah has given me the confidence to have a go at continuing this project at home, although I'm sure I'll be needing more expert tuition along the way. Highly recommended. Thank you Sarah."

"Fantastic day with Sarah, she's a great teacher, very patient and is very knowledgeable. The chair project I worked on was able to be completed on the day, and I have since put what I learnt to the test and completed more chairs at home. Sarah is also being very aware of the current situation with Covid 19, and ensured that social distancing was maintained, gloves and masks were used and things were sanitised after use - both tools and toilets - which was really reassuring. Thanks so much Sarah - I hope to be back soon!"

"Thanks very much for a great day, I really enjoyed learning new skills from Sarah, a very good, patient and knowledgeable tutor. The room was well laid out with all the correct social distancing precautions in place and the tools were all on the tables and easily to hand. During the day I managed to get quite a way through upholstering my antique chair, and with the knowledge gained I have now completed it."

"Thank you, Thank you - Sarah you are an amazing teacher!!! As you know I was a little nervous about taking my chair apart, the transformation is brilliant and so professional. My husband loves it and he’s the only one allowed to sit in it. This is the second time I’ve booked a course with Sarah and I can’t recommend her classes enough. She explains the processes to suit your learning style. I’ve been on a number of courses, this is the only one where I’m leaving with the confidence to embark on a upholstery project at home. The training room is a great learning space equipped with everything you need. Sarah provides refreshments throughout the day and a lovely lunch. If you’re looking to learn upholstery, Sarah’s your girl!!!"

"I have just attended Sarah's 2-day workshop on traditional lampshade making and can thoroughly recommend it. I wasn't sure what to expect, being a complete novice, and might have been a bit daunted if I had known. But Sarah led us calmly through all the stages and, miraculously, everything worked, including getting a rectangular piece of fabric onto a shaped shade with no creases! Sarah was very generous with her tips and information and imparted a wealth of knowledge. The results were lovely and we all finished feeling inspired to have a go on our own."

"I have just completed a 5 day upholstery course with Sarah. I was apprehensive as my skill level was non existent. However Sarah is an excellent teacher and soon builds up your skills and gives you the confidence to work on your chair. Sarah is great at keeping you fuelled with biscuits, drinks and lunch. Her groups are friendly and small enough to learn and watch others completing many different projects. A great experience - thank you."

"An amazing course and cannot recommend it enough! I went along for a one day taster session with a telephone table seat pad to cover. Sarah is both very knowledgable & a super teacher. She has the knack of clearly explaining & demonstrating every little step but then ensures the participant actually does the work. I finished the day with a really professionally covered seat pad that has freshened up a classic piece of furniture wonderfully. Class sizes are super small and Sarah is always there to help when needed. I learned loads!! After the course I’ve been able to independently complete a couple of similar projects. I’m now addicted and will be back for the 5 day course with a bigger project!! Additionally..... the setting is lovely: a beautiful farm house that’s immaculately furnished. Lunch was a delight.... not just the food but the company. Most definitely a highly recommended day!"

"I went along for a Saturday course, the class was small and there were only 3 of us, Sarah's max is 4 so she has plenty of time to help each person. Sarah is very welcoming and warm and is a fab teacher. She is a very skilled lady and it was a pleasure to learn from the best. Sarah shares her extensive knowledge in a friendly, relaxed manner and imparts best practises and trade secrets that you won’t glean from a book. "After comparing various courses, I definitely feel that I made the right choice in choosing Sarah Wood Upholstery. Sarah’s calm and relaxed manner helps build confidence in the craft, she is both a patient and a natural teacher who draws from her years of experience and provides teaching methods sourced from various proven scholars of upholstery. I particularly value all the tips and advice that go beyond the pages of the books. The sessions are restricted to a maximum of 3 students, this being a huge positive compared to other course providers. The flexibility in completing the course was also hugely beneficial, particularly when balancing family commitments. Sarah has designed a course which I feel will confidently prepare me in my new chosen career path. I have already completed my first commission, which was as a direct result of a referral by Sarah. I couldn’t recommend this course enough, the workroom is located within a lovely farm in Cambridgeshire and fab lunches are always provided."

"This was my first experience of upholstery and I had a fabulous day learning how to reupholster a chair. Sarah is a wonderful teacher, giving clear, easy to follow instructions. With only 3 people in the class Sarah was able to give individual help. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided throughout the day and Sarah gave us a delicious lunch too, which gave us time to chat. I would highly recommend this course...it has inspired me to learn more about this craft."
