I have worked as a jewellery designer and maker for over twenty five years now and as a tutor for around fifteen. My jewellery is inspired by many sources the natural coastal environment in which I live and also by pattern and design that catches my eye. I have worked in trade workshops and studied gemmology which I find really interesting.
Now based on Portland, I teach 1:1 classes tailoring classes to individuals needs and small groups of up to six students which run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Also Wednesday and Thursday evenings. I teach an intermediate class on Fridays.

Jewellery Processes - Wax carving for casting (1:1)
"We had a lovely day learning all the stages to make our sea glass rings. Kate was so patient guiding us through our choices and each process to get a beautiful finished product. Would thoroughly recommend and would love to do another course sometime."
Sea and Silver Jewellery School responded:
"Thank you, Kirsten. I am so glad you enjoyed the course and hope to teach you both again soon."
"I have just completed two days with Kate. A wonderful half term holiday break. The location of the studio is ideal with a sea view and handy for lunch time walk. Right next door to a brilliant cafe too.
I have some experience and Kate was brilliant at providing tailor made coaching for the areas I was rusty on as well as exposing me to new techniques that stretched my capability. Having had a break from this hobby I now have the confidence to take it up again. "
Sea and Silver Jewellery School responded:
"Thank you Lesley. I am pleased you enjoyed your time at Sea and Silver Jewellery School.
Enjoy your jewellery making. 😊"
"This course was interesting. It was far more expensive than others I have seen but I thought it suited me better although it probably didn’t. I didn’t have any sea glass and thought there would be plenty available on the day and there wasn’t. I ended up with a Rose Quartz ring, not really what I wanted, looked up prices they are only a few pound to buy cabouchens and this was an extra. I’ve since sourced on eBay sea glass packs are very inexpensive to buy if you don't have time to go and find it. I also didn’t realise I would have to pay for materials, extra £20 requested in total! Lovely lady but other much more competitively priced courses available."
"I had such a great time on this course and can't recommend it enough. It's a very rewarding experience seeing the crafting process through from start to end, the tutoring was clear and helped get the most out of the day. I'd love to return to experiment with more ambitious designs now that I feel more confident thanks to this course! :)"
