Jewellery Processes - Wax carving for casting (1:1)
Description
This 1:1 day course is ideal for students who have some jewellery making experience already and wish to add another skill to their repertoire. Hard carving wax will be used to carve sculptural shapes into. These wax models will then be sent off to a professional casting company, for it to be cast in silver or gold. On the day, I will teach you how to transfer your design onto the wax and gradually reveal the shape and form of your design by carving and filing the wax away with specialist tools. We will then prepare the piece and get it ready to be sent off to the casting company. You will then have the option to have one piece cast, or you can have a mould made if you would like multiples made.
What's included in the price?
Tools and carving wax will be supplied. There will be an extra charge for sending the ring off and casting it in your chosen precious metal. The ring will then be sent to you to finish and polish up, or you can return to the studio and finish it under my guidance, at an extra charge. This course requires a certain patience, and is a rewarding jewellery making process when mastered.
