Ruth and Andy Harrison are full time self-taught lampwork and fused glass artists based in Burton-On-Trent.
Glass and jewellery design began as a hobby, quickly became an addiction followed soon after by us selling our business and creating our own studio to work with glass full time.
"As someone who has had minimal experience with glass bead making, Ruth was a wonderful teacher. At the beginning we discussed my previous experience and what I hoped to get out of the day and then met those plans wonderfully, helping me feel more comfortable around the torch and glass and feeling confident to strike out on my own at some stage. Ruth also provided a delicious soup for lunch. Highly recommend to anyone wanting either a start or more experience in glass work. "

"We had a great glass fusing session with Ruth and Andrew at Kalypso glass. On arrival we were made very welcome with refreshments and then Andrew gave a clear demonstration on how to construct our first piece. The glass components were already prepared in advance so we were able to dive straight into creating our first piece.
In total we made 4 pieces in a couple of hours which was great fun and great value.
Ruth also gave a quick demonstration on the glass beads she was making which was very technical but fascinating watching the glass form under flame.
Will definitely be back in the future to create the Christmas scenes and have a go at making some glass beads
Thank you for a friendly, personal and fun session for myself and Jane.

"Thank you Lindsay, glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us, you made some great pieces too."
"I attended the glass fusion workshop with 3 friends. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. It was friendly and relaxed with no time pressures. We made 5 Christmas pieces, so plenty to bring home too .
I would recommend to anyone - although it was a very simple course, so anyone who would like more challenging work should look for something slightly more advanced "
"We did a day course for two people and can definitely recommend Andrew. He was very accommodating when illness changed our plans, he was friendly, approachable and welcoming on the day. He was flexible and willing to adapt to enable us to work with our ideas whilst also gently making us aware of when these might be beyond our beginner’s skill level. He was generous with materials and attentive during our makes. We had a blast! "
