"Great fun for the day. Going through Arc TIG and MIG welding techniques. I took my own MIG welder along and Roger showed me exactly how to use mine as well as all of his equipment which was slightly different. This is my first time welding but it is a brilliant day for any skill level. "

"Many thanks, Roger for a very rewarding and inspirational day! The day was entirely designed to fit my particular set of circumstances and requirements. As a long-time ceramic sculptor, I am currently in the process of widening my techniques and materials to include wood, resins and metals. Rather than concentrating a single technique, Roger was able to give me an overview of a wide range of metal-joining techniques, ranging from Arc welding, Mig welding to brazing and soft-soldering. Whilst I was working my way through the introductory exercises, Roger worked his way through testing and reviewing all of my existing tools and equipment and was able to assess those items that were "keepers" and had some worth, and those items that were not safe, or reliable for future use. This, coupled with seeing his brilliant original artworks at close quarters, made the day very inspirational and contributed enormously to getting my metal-joining journey well under way. Looking forward to further, in-depth tuition at a later date."

"Recommended for anyone wanting to get into welding as a hobby. I attended on Friday 24 Mar with my son at the workspace in Bordon. We had a great day and started with the basics on arc welding, then MIG and then using TIG for the last few hours. Roger has excellent knowledge on technique and providing lots of tips on understanding weld results. My son followed up with some MIG welding on the weekend and the difference was amazing- we are now making a dinosaur sculpture from scrap. Recommended for anyone wanting to get into welding as a hobby."

"I found this day course really useful. As someone new to welding my aims for the course were to gain a basic understanding of welding techniques and equipment, and equally importantly for me, an understanding of the processes used to take an idea from concept to reality. Roger took me through the basics of MIG, Arc and TIG welding, sufficient for me to have the confidence to develop my interest further. As a teacher Roger was patient, shared his experience with enthusiasm, and was happy to be diverted to discuss some of the other tooling and techniques he uses to create his art. "I recently did the learning to weld course for two with my adult son and had a really enjoyable day at Roger’s workshop. With zero experience of any kind of welding or metalwork, the course introduced us to all the basic info required to weld safely and gave us an opportunity to try several machines and tools including the awesome plasma cutter!! As total beginners the majority of the day (for us) was spent on practising the basic skills of joining different types of materials and learning to choose appropriate ways to prepare and setup the components. If you had more prior experience then much more time could undoubtedly go to building up a larger or more complex piece to take home. Whilst a beginner is probably not going home with their own “angel of the north” by the end of the day, we did take home several practice pieces including some name plates and a small stand. I now feel confident enough to buy some equipment and continue to develop this new skill. Overall really good fun as Roger is both a patient and creative teacher as well as a super nice chap. My only recommendation for an improvement would be to use a “What3Words” address to find the venue as a postcode only gets you 99% of the way there and site/road itself (the last 1%) has unhelpful (out of sequence) house numbering so we did drive around for several minutes trying to find the specific house. Thoroughly recommended :)"

"Roger is passionate about what he does and it shows in his teaching. I went with no preconceived ideas but needed to understand the different mechanics of soldering, brazing and welding. Roger was more than able to discuss and demonstrate them and more besides. I have never micro soldered before and fell in love with it. I really intended to make life size garden sculptures but fell in love with his small sculptures. He was incredibly generous with his time, materials and knowledge and I hope to do more with him in the future."

"Brilliant and informative course - thoroughly recommended! I attended a one to one course with Roger for the day yesterday. Beforehand Roger had liaised regarding my level of expertise - absolute novice, the safety equipment required (although he provided most of it) and whether I had a particular form of welding in mind. I had a MIG welder for a Christmas present a couple of years ago which was still in the box. I swapped photos with Roger and he told me what wire etc. I needed. On the day we set-up my welder and plugged it in for the first time and I was welding within minutes under Roger's expert tuition. We covered welding all sorts and thicknesses of materials and the respective settings for the machine with me continuously welding through the day. I was also taught how to use a TIG welder towards the end of course. Very enjoyable, informative and practical course."
