Sarah Murray reviewed: Pottery classes in Teesside

"I originally signed up for a 4 week class last June but I am still going nearly a year later, which tells you how great this course is. I have made so many amazing things that I would never have thought I could do - vases, decorations, tea light holders, little pots made on the wheel to name just a few - as Lou is so patient and helpful. I can't recommend this enough :-)"

Mary Gardner reviewed: Wire & mixed media sculpture courses with James Ort

"We have just returned home from our second visit to The Phoenix Studios and will definitely be back for more. The setting is beautiful, the course content inspiring and motivational and as for James, well, he can't be improved upon. He has a wonderfully friendly, informal style which relaxes even the most apprehensive student and manages to support each and everyone in the group so that you leave feeling fulfilled and motivated to carry on and have another go. It was almost like being at a family event!"

Louise Smart reviewed: Willow Deer Workshop at Skelton Grange with Phil Bradley

"I recently attended the willow hare workshop with Phil. Not only did I bring away a piece of art that I am extremely proud of. I had a wonderfully relaxing day in a beautiful, very serene and friendly environment. I'm looking forward to returning in the future to make a deer too. Phil was an excellent tutor and I cannot recommend his course highly enough. If you are remotely interested what are you waiting for!"

Maxine Corfield reviewed: One day bangle/ring workshop

"Thr bangle workshop was great, I made a copper bangle and a silver bangle with cooper wrapped round. I often get asked about my silver bangle and it's really great to say that I made it. This workshop is perfect for a group of friends that are looking for something different. Jolene the lady that takes the course was brilliant, she even made homemade brownies which was a lovely touch. I will definitely be heading back to try one of the other workshops!!"

"Enjoyed a wonderful day with Maddie in her beautiful workshop in the Pembrokeshire countryside. Really relaxing and fun day..created two mosaics and was taught different cutting techniques and how to grout when finished. Lunch was a tasty homemade soup. The day went by so quickly..too quickly for my liking. Loved every minute of the day and would definately recommend it to anyone."

John Gill reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"The 5 star ratings in other reviews is well deserved. This is an excellent introduction to the art of the blacksmith in a lovely setting. Alex is friendly and relaxed but there is little opportunity rest. I could have done with bigger biceps! :) If you are interested in metal working, this course is thoroughly recommended."

Jen reviewed: Spoon carving (Two Day)

"Just had a lovely weekend learning spoon carving with Martin. He is a patient teacher, and as people have said an excellent cook too. He taught in a logical, calm way, with a basis of safety so that not one of the four of us needed plasters. He teaches skills and how to handle different scenarios (twisty wood, knots, splits etc) rather than a formulaic approach, and he uses the minimum of kit rather than trying to make you buy loads of stuff (though of course I want a lovely carving axe now!). Also his house and the countryside are beautiful. You can visit his studio in Artweeks if you want to meet him before signing up for a course, but I would heartily recommend his tuition, and I think the price is very reasonable for two days of expert tuition, materials and a knife, a mini sharpening course, plus extra wood to take home and practice on, and of course the lunch! We ate soup with Martin's handmade spoons. All in all, great fun, and we made real, usable implements."

Carolin R reviewed: Make silver jewellery using precious metal clay or silver clay

"I did the silver clay course with Toni in the spring of this year. Silver clay crafts was something I had always wanted to try so, having received the course booking as a birthday present, I went along and had the most fantastic time! Toni was very welcoming and made sure we understood everything around the craft (which tools to use, why to do mock ups, firing, etc.) and gave us tips for doing it at home as well. I wanted to go with a friend, and Toni did the course just for the two of us on a date that suited us. We produced some really impressive jewellery and can only recommend Toni Peers as a teacher."

alison humphries reviewed: Rag Rugs and Wallhangings - traditional hand hooking and prodding and related techniques

"A great beginners course in a lovely setting. Lynne began by showing various hangings and other items she has created which was very inspiring. After stretching hessian on a frame - which was ours to keep along with the hooking and prodding tools provided - she clearly explained the key techniques. We were then able to try for ourselves and use different and unexpected materials including plastic bags! During the day there was plenty of tasty food and drink provided. Highly recommended."

Rose reviewed: 'Art of Stained Glass' - Oldbury, Birmingham

"Excellent! My Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our class with Jamal and came away really happy with the stained glass panels that we made. Jamal is a great teacher as has so much knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic, it was definitely infectious as we want to try making more things now! Would recommend the class to anyone as a fun day out that also gives you a greater appreciation for the skill and craftmanship involved in stained glass window making."

Lisa reviewed: Rag Rugs and Wallhangings - traditional hand hooking and prodding and related techniques

"Had a fun day as a complete beginner learning the techniques of rag-rugging and wall hangings. Learning the use of mixing fabrics and plastics along with wire and all sorts of different embellishments as we went along. I wish I'd had the foresight to work one corner to make a sampler so that I can keep and refer back to techniques we learned whereas now I have the image in my head that I want to do, I may have to restart some of it. That said, Lynne was so great at getting us started that it should take no time at all. My other half's t-shirts are no longer safe!"

Nicola Davies reviewed: Circular sock knitting machine 'Sock School'

"This is an absolutely fabulous experience! The sock just grows before your very eyes! Concentration is required, but the reward is so worth it. The whole day is great fun, in lovely surroundings with like minded people. Anne is an excellent, patient teacher who brings the craft to life with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Being a non-knitter, I needed this, and I ended up with a beautiful pair of socks, which I could actually wear without alarming folk! The lunch is delicious, which is an added bonus, and we even had home made biscuits which was a lovely touch. Highly recommended."

John reviewed: One to one photographic tuition London - Online

"Very enjoyable, I walked away from the course feeling fully prepared and energised to apply all the advice given. I was very impressed by Richard, not only about the techniques, but also the tools and how best to use them. I particularly liked his flexibility in getting his message over, we were a mixed ability group and he quickly noticed those needing things explained in a different way to ensure the message had go through to everyone. A great course from a very knowledgeable and pleasant man. Fully recommended!"

Julie Wymer reviewed: Improvers Hand Spinning - Next Steps in Hand Spinning - at All in a Spin

"This course is an excellent way of increasing knowledge and learning about new skills and tools available to novice spinners. The technical side of learning about ratios helps your understanding of how to spin for specific projects and the blending of colour and fibres is exciting and inspirational. I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to learn more about spinning and the techniques available to create beautiful spun yarn."

Sarah Potter reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"With just 4 people on the course, Elaine was able to spend plenty of time with each one of us, sorting out our problems ans setting us back on the right path. We covered everything from how to choose a fleece and what to do with it, through drop spindling before using a spinning wheel. Elaine provided a variety of fibres for us to try out. There really was nothing we weren't taught! A lovely day in a beautiful location."
