Jenny Spencer reviewed: Weekend upholstery courses - Oxfordshire & Berkshire Borders

"I absolutely recommend a weekend on one of Philip Wellesley-Davies upholstery courses. Philip is a very patient and encouraging teacher and every one of us on the course was able to make great progress on our chosen projects. There was a wide variety of work so it was interesting and inspiring to see what others were doing. I was delighted to have finished my project even though beforehand I was concerned whether it was too difficult for a novice - but Philip was excellent and guiding me through all the steps but then leaving me to actually do the work. I fully intend to go on another weekend (or two!) with another project."

Jacqui reviewed: Weaving: the journey begins

"" This was probably the best craft course that I have attended. With very well gauged individual tuition I went from being a complete novice to producing an attractive piece of fabric within the day. I was given time to consolidate each new technique before moving on to the next and experimenting with different textures of yarn. It was a relaxing and productive day and excellent value as all of the materials and an enjoyable lunch were included in the fee. I shall definitely be returning to consolidate my skills.""

Susan Purchase reviewed: Upholster a drop-in seat in West Wales

"This was an excellent course and this was simply down to Mick, he was a brilliant teacher, lots of time for each of us as well as teaching us in groups too. He us a perfectionist and equally wanted us to achieve perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the company of the others on the group. It was a very inclusive and supportive group with the bonus of fun too. Thank you to Suzi too, I received a lovely welcome from her plus she provided us all with regular refreshments."

George Gold reviewed: Steam-Bending Courses in Cumbria

"Charlie Whinney has an expert knowledge of his subject and an impressive ability to share it. The course is about 'doing' and importantly CW is as keen for students to experience what doesn't work and why things go wrong as he is for them to achieve success. Take his word for it on the warm clothes advice if you're attending in winter!"

Adrian Fox reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"What a great experience! The warm welcome (and Debbie’s excellent cake) sets you up for the rest of the day. Adrian and Andy took the group step by step through making a rams-head poker, that I wouldn’t have thought I could manage. The day was well paced and well explained explained. Lunch was delicious and hearty (thanks again Debbie!). Then in the afternoon the chance to be creative with making a toasting fork of your own design. (Oh, and more cake to finish!) What’s not to like?"

Moira Ross reviewed: Raise your own copper bowl, two day course

"This course was a surprise gift so I had no idea about what was involved in raising a bowl. Charlotte was most welcoming and easy to get on with. She was also extremely patient, as I found the flames and acid kind of scary to begin with ( I can't even use a lighter easily!) but I soon became an old hand at it. Her demonstrations helped me to understand what to do and she offered advice through out. It was hard work but well worth the effort. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and was very impressed with the bowl I managed to produce."

"I got a craft courses voucher for my birthday and this course caught my eye, I contacted Aimee and she replied straight away giving me all the details, I booked on with my voucher and went along- it was great. Aimee is a great teacher, so friendly and patient with everyone, I had a great afternoon and stopped on my way home for extra supplies of paper so I could carry on! I have since done her advanced class which is really great and I’m now addicted. Thoroughly recommend if you like crafting, cake and good company!"

Tina Webber reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"Interesting and enjoyable day. Very happy with the work that Steve helped me to complete. Felt that I learned quite a lot. Steve is very talented and produces some amazing pieces. It would have been useful to have had the opportunity to discuss with Steve what I had planned to do prior to the day as unfortunately what I had planned was not possible so that threw me a bit and I then struggled to think of what to do. The day was sometimes a little chaotic as there were plenty of demands on Steve’s time but we all had enough one to one support throughout the day."

Bryony Wells reviewed: Introduction to candle-making as a business

"Such a wonderful workshop! I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful day learning to make candles with Jo. I was a total novice and Jo makes everything so easy to understand and lots of fun. I'm still amazed at how gorgeous the candles I made are - beautiful, and they smell divine! I would give this the highest possible recommendation - if you've ever wanted to give candle making a try, this is the place to go. It's excellent value for money. I also came away with lots of printed information, from step-by-step guides to recommended stockists of candle-making supplies, which means I can try making more candles at home with confidence. In addition to all that, Jo provides a lovely lunch, looking out towards the fields from her beautiful kitchen. Book in for a class - there's absolutely no reason not to!"
