Isata reviewed: Beginners Weaving with the Rigid Heddle Loom - at All in a Spin

"I did the one day beginner’s course, had a relaxing yet stimulating day, and came away with lots of enthusiasm and the knowledge to plan, warp up and work on my own projects. Dunja paces the course very well and gives attention and help to each weaver as needed, offering a wealth of knowledge and skill. The course is very hands on, with everyone involved from the start. It was great to be able to take away a finished piece at the end, and my only regret was not signing up to a second day. There’s a peaceful rhythm to the course and to the weaving itself, and the studio and surroundings are beautiful. Thank you for a perfect day, and an excellent introduction to weaving!"

Carole Hassall reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"I would recommend this course to everyone. Matthew deserves the "excellent" rating. I thoroughly enjoyed the days course! Matthew was an enthusiastic, methodical, patient teacher and I found learning from him very easy. I made several pots in the morning and due to Matthews excellent teaching I was ready to progress onto making jugs in the afternoon. He talked me through making these and I felt so confident I made 2!! If you are thinking of learning wait no longer, look no further book a course with Matthew."

Andy Wright reviewed: Wood turning courses

"Big thanks to George for his patience, expertise and vision on my Wood turning day. I arrived not really knowing what to expect from a 1-2-1 tuition - but I was warmly welcomed by both George and Susan. The day ran at a relaxed pace, with good measures of refreshment breaks and extra learning, demonstrating techniques that George uses on his masterpieces. The workshop is extremely well equipped and made me realise immediately that I need to update my equipment in order to consistently achieve quality results. I can't fault the course content, methods of teaching or the endless supply of treats, drinks, lunch, and even cake ! Thank you so much, I had a fantastic time, and I can guarantee I will be back for a visit ! Andi"

Barbara Mitchell reviewed: Stained Glass and Pique Assiette Mosaics course

"Blue Sky Mosaics is a wonderful and relaxing venue to get your creative juices running. Ann is such an inspirational, knowledgeable and patient tutor who guided me through the technique and helped me complete a large outdoor mural. Plenty of exciting materials to choose from and a welcome cuppa to drink as you browse around the Aladdins Cave. I was hooked on day one and have gone on to create many different pieces at home. Would definitely recommend."

Hazel Mills reviewed: Needle felting workshop - Create your own woodland creature

"I was a complete novice to felting and Denise made me so welcome, encouraging me that I would surprise myself by the end of the workshop. Denise is an excellent coach and took us through the materials and equipment used before starting us off on our very own Harry (or was it Harriet?) Hare. It is a very relaxing craft and apart from needing to understand the basic principles and receiving some very helpful tips on technique, the outcome was guaranteed. Each creation had its own character and it was fun to see the other hares develop. I would totally recommend this as a day to spend learning and enjoying. Thank you, Denise. Hazelx"

Crafty Gal responded:

"Hazel your hare was brilliant - it was so lovely to see your confidence grow as he/she started to appear under your needles, well done you! You're no novice now! I'm looking forward to seeing what you go on to next, remember I'm here if you need any advice, good luck."

Julie Roberts reviewed: Needle felting workshop - Create your own woodland creature

"What a lovely day, start to finish and I have an impressive hare to show for it! Can't believe I actually made him but thanks to Denise for her expert tuition and also leaving room for your own creativity I feel I have the confidence to try something else at home. I already have an order for another hare. The silence at times was testament to the levels of concentration around the table and the 5 hours went in a flash. I may well sign up to do another course. A great skill to learn, oh and lunch was great too. Highly recommended, thank you Denise"

Crafty Gal responded:

"I'm so thrilled you enjoyed the day as much as I did Julie, your hare was fantastic and I can't wait to see the next one you do. It's always such fun to see everyone start with so much doubt that they could actually make the hare, then see them virtually skipping out with the thrill of what they've created. Remember I'm here if you need any help, or hopefully I'll see you at a future workshop. Good luck."

Catherine Massey reviewed: Christmas Decorations in Art and Floristry

"Very relaxing, friendly and inspiring Wednesday craft classes. We have covered ceramic painting, block printing on paper (making our own blocks), stitching to make unique cards and felt flowers for fairy lights, knitting twine body mitts and making our own body scrubs. Jo is encouraging and supportive and will show you craft techniques - great if you have ever wondered or forgotten how to cast on or off! It's a wonderful way to decompress, and learn some new skills too."

Taryn Ferris reviewed: A Practical Dry Stone Walling Workshop Central London

"I signed up for this course as a garden designer - enthusiasm to learn this craft for my design portfolio but with limited practical experience in hard landscaping. I have come away with understanding, knowledge, and hands-on experience in building stone walling from foundation to toppers. John was engaging and clear with instructions explaining historical design styles and practicalities of dry stone construction before we started and then pointing out important considerations, possible mistakes, or need for certain stone choice and placement as we proceeded. This really is a skill that can only be learned in the doing and John very skillfully instructed us when the time was right and then let us learn for ourselves as we built our walls throughout the day. With the growing height of the walls came confidence in our stone placement choices. John finished the day with certificates and by asking us to reflect on gained knowledge - which I found really useful. I will never forget that the foundation of a wall should be half the wall height, and the top of the wall will be half the the width of the foundation. Thank you John!"

London School of Dry Stone Walling responded:

"Thank you for your kind feed back Taryn. It was a pleasure to work with you. I do hope you are able to use the experience during your landscaping projects."

Norman Wake reviewed: Digital Photography - Improvers with St Ives Adult Learning

"The coverage of the course was impressive and well presented by the course tutor. The class size was just about right and we were all at there same level proficiency by and large. I would like to do the course a second time as I missed one evening and had to catch up. Always to be avoided if possible."

Chris Jepson reviewed: Woodturning Course in North Yorkshire with Philip Greenwood RPT

"I had a very informative, hands-on and informative day with Philip yesterday. I have never even attempted to turn wood before, had only ever seen it done at woodworking shows. Philip took me through everything I need to know from safety, tool requirements and basic setup, through to all the basic techniques to get started turning bowls and spindles. I got everything I needed out of the day and the value for money is great. The location of the workshop is superb and thanks to Philips wife Wendy for providing refreshments throughout the day. I now need to acquire all the various tools and machinery before I can start turning on my own but I am confident that I could start practising the techniques shown and before long be producing turned items to a good standard. Thank you Philip and Wendy, all the best."
