tamsin john reviewed: Advanced throwing masterclass with David Frith

"I throughly enjoyed this course as an intermediate thrower. David did numerous demonstrations which we then tried to copy, he is a master with such fluidity it was a joy to watch him - platters, urns with lids, big bowls etc. David's style is much more look and learn rather than full on teaching. I would have liked to been able to stay on later than 4pm which my fellow students agreed on too. We all would have benefited if this were possible as the days seemed quite short. But I've come home full of inspiration and more confidence as a result of spending 3 days with David Frith."

Potclays Ltd. responded:

"Hi Tamsin, thanks so much for your review! We're very glad to hear you enjoyed the course and we will be sure to pass your comments on to David. As we mention on the course programme sheet, timings are flexible according to the progress of the group. However, we decided on a 4pm published finish time for our courses as we have, on occasion, had a mad rush at the end of a course for students to place or collect their orders. We are very happy for students to carry on working until shortly before we close, if they wish. Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again soon!"

Robin Smith reviewed: Pole Lathe Bowl Turning - Your First Bowl

"A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable day. My bowl is a source of joy to me, and I now know how to make more of 'em. I am bowled over by how good it was. Helpful in many ways, the day demonstrated that the right day course can make a person feel good, which showed me that I should see them as valuable experiences offered for sale, rather than money-making opportunism. Thanks for the lesson Adrian. Here's to all the gentle teachers out there."

"Do it ! Book the course , go along , get involved , make something new , learn new skills. Beware though - Mandy’s courses are thoroughly addictive. Julie King reviewed: Potter's wheel pottery - half day course Siramik

"I attended the weekend course and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. I have no experience in throwing and little with clay, and I surprised myself with what I achieved. Yoka is very clear in her teaching and very knowledgable. I have learnt many different techniques. Yoka is very inspirational and I feel this is a starting point for my new hobby!! My partner (not doing the course) and baby came too. The accommodation was fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. Food was outstanding. Totally recommend this - if you are considering it then book it - you won’t regret it!! I’m looking forward to booking into another course with Yoka and setting up my own studio in the coming months."

"A lovely way to spend a day in Sue's studio filled with her own wonderful work, inspiration and lovely crafting materials. I'm inspired to get embroidering for our wedding!"

Rasma B reviewed: Leather long stitch journal / artist's book (beginners)

"Lynne is a fun and capable teacher - she very clearly demonstrates the basics, working at the students pace, as well as providing useful information for working outside the box in one's own time. I came away satisfied, not-too-overloaded, inspired by the success of the day, and keen to find leather to upcycle into Christmas presents. I also very much appreciated the welcome to her home studio, which was warm and inviting with the added bonus of fabulous cake! I would definitely recommend this course for beginners and those who want a fun weekend day getting creative in a new discipline or in company of others."

"I had never used a machine before attending Donnas' course. Donna was extremely friendly and approachable and she gave very clear instructions on what to do and was extremely patient when dealing with a totally novice who could not even thread a normal needle She made the whole experience informative and fun. I was very proud of my finished item. And I am sure she will have no trouble in expanding her classes and making every single one an enjoyable experience for all who attend."

Lou Gibbon reviewed: Potter's wheel pottery - half day course Siramik

"My friend and I travelled over 5 hours with severe weather warnings and flooding in the locality, to attend a weekend throwing course with Yoka at Siramik. It was well worth the effort. Yoka is an excellent teacher. Guiding us from the very basics right through to the trimming and finishing / decoration processes. We each had a selection of finished pieces on Sunday ,ready to be fired and posted on to us. Yoka was an inspiration and very happy to answer all our questions , sharing all her experience and knowledge willingly. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and being gluten and dairy free was catered for perfectly . I came away feeling confident to go straight into getting on a wheel and practising my newly found skills yesterday! Thanks again Yoka."
