Adrian reviewed: Contemporary stool making weekend course

"Best Christmas present ever! A fantastic two days in a stunning setting. Ambrose expertly, calmly and patiently led our group to learn completely new skills to craft a lovely and very usable piece of furniture from nowt but rough hewn pieces of ash from his woods. It was such a joy to use excellent quality hand tools, the use of which we all picked up quickly after Ambrose's clear demonstrations and continual encouragement while allowing us to get on with it in our own styles. The group produced seven similar but all different beautiful stools in a friendly atmosphere including some amusing tales over Ambrose's sister's delicious soups at lunchtime and cakes at the end. I will be back!"

Christina Edgren Bawden reviewed: Learn to carve wooden spoons, beginners and improvers

"Fantastic course suitable for beginners and improvers. It really helped me get my head around the techniques that can’t be understood from looking at videos or reading books. The yurt was a great location and the tools provided on the day were well looked after. I highly recommend this course."

Mr &Mrs Jim & Geraldine Towersey reviewed: Green Man stone carving in Yorkshire

"Obviously this is an automated request! We emailed an enquiry about the course in December 2018 direct. We received an automated reply from yourselves, telling us the tutor’s would get in touch. We did not here from anybody which we thought was a little rude...so we can not give you an opinion about the course, except we sacked it off in the end."

The West Riding Stonecarving Association responded:

"Hi I hope you received my apologies through your email in that I explained that I didn't receive your request for information. Please let me known if you are still interested in our course by telephone 07519931784 Thank You. Helen"

Carol Hewings reviewed: Morning and Afternoon Art Classes for adults - Exeter

"I have just finished my second term with ColourWheel and have signed up for another. I look forward to every Tuesday and am never disappointed. I learn something new every week and am constantly surprised at what I can achieve with the right guidance and support. Joanne and Chloe work incredibly hard to create a perfect environment for relaxed learning. Whatever stress is going on in my work and home life I find it starts to disappear as soon as I start my drive over to Ide. I find the whole experience immersive and restorative. To anyone who is thinking about doing the course I would say 'just do it', you won't be disappointed. Money very well spent. Lovely, friendly people, everything provided and a beautiful venue. What more could you ask for?"

ColourWheel Exeter responded:

"Thank you very much for your kind words Carol. It has been a pleasure to get to know you over the weeks and watch you grow in confidence and seeing your art skills develop and grow. Looking forward to seeing you on the next course."

"Second course with Kate. The first was stacking rings. Wow!, silver clay is a delight to work with and the only limitations are your imagination. Kate was as helpful and informative as ever. I came away with some beautiful jewellery and the confidence to order a kit to continue creating at home. I would highly recommend Kate's craft courses."

"Highly recommend this course. Enjoyed a fabulous afternoon at this wonderful venue. Jill is an excellent tutor and gives you such a warm welcome. Very well organised course and came away with comprehensive notes which had been put together really well with binding. Clearly much thought had gone into the presentation. The shortbread and cake were fantastic. Thankyou Jill. I will definately be booking onto another course."

petra reviewed: Introducing Macrame Knots and Intricate Designs

"I had a wonderful afternoon with Mary knotting and nattering! She is a master of this great craft. I already had a basic understanding of some of the knots which enabled us to jump ahead to knots I was unfamiliar with and by the end of our session I had accomplished them! You tube is great for learning but its so good to get away from the screen and learn first hand.Thank you Mary"

Glenn Hickling reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"It was, without doubt, one of the best things I've ever done, spending a day with my wife throwing pots under the expert eye of Matthew. He is an incredible teacher, by the fourth pot I actually felt pretty confident on the wheel and got great results that we will actually use day to day in our home. Can't wait to eat noodles out of a bowl I threw myself. He made the day such fun too. If you want a pottery experience with solid results to remember the day by, choose Matthew. And where better to do it than at The Potteries?"

Dimbleby Ceramics - Studio Pottery Courses responded:

"Hi Glenn, Thank you for such a great review and I had a fantastic day teach both of you. It was amazing how much progress that you both made in such a short time and the quality of the forms that you both produced. Your pots are now drying and will be fired shortly, I will be in touch as soon as they are ready to collect. Best wishes Mathew"

Jen reviewed: Introduction to Soft Pastels 10-week face-to-face art course in Kidderminster West Midlands

"Raya has all the best qualities as a tutor and a person. This course has been magically put together with the skills Raya will pass onto you all coming together towards the end. You will be surprised how much you have learnt in such a short space of time. Raya's method of teaching is fun and relaxed yet structured and I have nothing but admiration for her obvious skills as an artist of many years and her warmth as a person. Many thanks Raya"

Phin Hall reviewed: Creating a Viking knife an introduction to forging and knife making at Bearded Pig Forge

"If asked to sum up this course in a single word, I'd have to say: I've been on a lot of craft courses over the years, from making Tudor Christmas Decorations to building a Cob Oven, and my day at the Bearded Pig Forge was easily the best to date. Bearing in mind I'm a complete novice working with orange-hot metal, heavy hammers, super-sharp blades and a crazy-fast belt sander, Spike (the blacksmith) was immensely calm and patient, only stepping in when I was in danger of losing an eye, ;-) setting fire to myself and the forge or, worse of all, messing up my knife! He explained and demonstrated everything clearly and concisely and answered all of my questions in much the same way. Added to that is the fact it was a lovely, sunny day in glorious surroundings and that Spike is great company, it was - in a word - brilliant. Next stop: axe-making!"
