Jo Simpson reviewed: Weekly dressmaking classes with Go Deer

"I’ve been doing dressmaking classes with Saj for almost 2 years now. I started out making simple things for my 6 y/o daughter (which she loves) and have now progressed to making things for myself – including a tailored winter coat. Saj is a great teacher, with years of dressmaking experience. She is very patient and encouraging – and classes are relaxed, friendly and supportive. I would heartily recommend these classes to anyone who is considering it!"

"Attended the Roman blind workshop and thoroughly enjoyed it. A nice small group with plenty of relaxed time to work at ones own pace and for Judi to give each one ample time to explain things. Came away with completed project and clear printed instructions . I’m looking forward to trying another course . Thank you . Wendy"

Sara Condron reviewed: Craft Retreat at Wild Rose Escapes, Highlands, Scotland

"From the ride from the station this week was an amazing experience. Alex gave us a great rundown of the local environment we were travelling into allowing for this Aussie to acclimatise. The Stables accommodation was very welcoming and comfortable and perfect for our group of 6. Rosie inspired us all to explore the wonders of Highland crafting with natural dyeing techniques, eco-printing and felting. To be able to use products collected from the local area and create wonderful colours and products was fabulous. Joanie's take on the world gave me food for thought and I have another way of thinking to explore and yoga to take up. The wonderful food cooked for us could be an issue if I'd stayed longer as it was too yummy to resist. Walking through the forests of Glen Affric and Loch Ness was an experience to remember as was the beautiful weather Scotland put on for us. A swim in the loch a bonus. Learning about Scottish crafting heritage and participating in waulking singing with Ele (don't need to be able to sing) was great fun along with an evening of spinning with Ali and visits to local craftspeople. Was very sad to leave and hope I will have an opportunity to go back in the future"

Wild Rose Escapes responded:

"Dear Sara, Thank-you for your lovely review- i'm so glad you enjoyed your break from travels with us, it was a pleasure to have met you..and i'm so glad you got a chance to have a dip in a Scottish loch! Hopefully see you again when you next visit the UK. Yours Rosie"

Araba Ashun reviewed: Creative Fused Glass for beginners and improvers

"What a fun and relaxing way to spend the afternoon! I'm a crafting newbie but Nadine guided us through the whole process explaining everything fully and then we were off! Nadine was on hand to help with both the design aspect if we were stuck and help practically with those wanting to execute trickier designs. I can't wait to see the final results! These could make great presents, but you might not want to give them away after all..."

Cathy Olliver reviewed: Full day introduction to glass fusing course.

"My husband bought me a one to one glass fusing day with Amanda for my big birthday last month. Amanda was fantastic right from the moment he emailed her, responding quickly to emails and offering excellent advice. A date was soon set for my experience with no fuss whatsoever. On the day Amanda immediately put me at ease as I was initially a little bit nervous and wasn't at all sure if I'd be able to translate what was in my mind into a piece of glass artwork. We talked my ideas through and agreed what was possible and lots of help and advice was offered. Soon we had a plan! The process of cutting, practicing and arranging was soon underway and by the end of the day my artwork was ready for the kiln. A day with Amanda is highly recommended, and was such a fantastic birthday present. I came away feeling proud of what I'd achieved, having never done anything like it before in my life. Thank you Amanda for such a great experience!"

"I had my 4th workshop with Scarlet using the silverclay again. I cannot tell you how much I'm enjoying her workshops. I made some lovely star earrings & I'm getting more confident. It was just me there, but Scarlet gives you special attention even if it's just you on your own & in the group workshop that I have had at my house with my mates. Seriously I'm really getting addicted."

Sue B reviewed: Spoon carving (Two Day)

"I did Martin's one-day Whittling course a while ago and have just completed the one-day Spoon Carving course. Both were truly superb. Martin is thorough in presenting all the information you need, from understanding which types of wood are best for carving, to picking a knife and how to keep it (and your axe) sharp. But, even more importantly, Martin is a great teacher who creates a friendly, relaxed and fun atmosphere. The cabin-style workshop where he teaches small groups is ideal for tuition and well-equipped—and caters to all abilities. Plus the lunches are home-made and delicious. It's a great way to spend a day, whether or not you decide wood-carving is for you."
