Jane Bransgrove reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"I had a fantastic time with Alex at Chalk Pit Forge. As a complete beginner, I was delighted to be able to produce a bird bath (with Alex's help) at the end of the day. It's a real hands-on experience and lots of fun. Alex is a very friendly and knowledgeable tutor who patiently guides you through numerous techniques. Book it, get stuck in, get it hot and hit it!"

Chalk Pit Forge responded:

"Thanks for the great review. You did an excellent job and really got stuck in. Full credit to you. Hope you enjoy your bird bath and keep being creative. Alex"

Nel reviewed: Raku - learn the exciting art of rapid Japanese glaze firing

"Couldn't have been happier with my raku firing day. I took my mum as a birthday present and we had a wonderful day. We managed to get four firings in one day and a great bunch of people to enjoy it with. Jackie made a delicious lunch and Richard was absolutely brilliant. We both came away with three beautiful pots and both thought it was exceptional value for money. Thank you for a great day."

Danny Spiers reviewed: A fabulous introduction to fused glass - one day course

"I attended this course and was amazed at what I learnt! I was very careful to choose a course where I would have the freedom to create my own pieces from my own ideas and that's exactly what I was able to do. Not only did I learn lots but I also created a beautiful piece of glass art (a sugar skull!) that now sits on my wall at home. Siobhan is a one of a kind and super talented. The lunch was great and refreshments were continuous. It was a real privilege to be in Siobhan's studio and to be instructed by her. Highly recommend! My kiln is now on order and I cannot wait to create my own little space to create my own glass!"

Dilbar Suleymanova reviewed: Introduction to Furniture Restoration at Craven Conservation

"A very useful course, it can be suitable for complete beginner or someone, who is more experienced. - step by step explanation - key areas have been shown and taught in detail - friendly and easy-going approach I brought my old side table to upcycle for use in the garden. With extra information, I can now have a matching with the rest of my garden furniture, and durable addition. I have also received valuable information on materials, finishes, types, techniques, which I can now use on my further projects. Thanks again and I shall be back to change the upholstery on my old armchair."

Cathy Stacey reviewed: Full day mosaic workshop for beginners - Meriden, West Midlands

"The best craft workshop I have ever attended...and I’ve been to a lot! It was a relaxing, enjoyable and therapeutic day creating a mosaic piece to take home. Anne is a wonderful tutor with plenty of great ideas and guidance and very generous with her materials. The setting is wonderful and the homemade lunch that Anne provided was delicious. I will 100% be booking another workshop with her very soon!"

Sue Naismith reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"An excellent one day course with plenty of time to work on a small piece of furniture with an end result to be proud of. Ollie spends lots of one-to-one time with each student as well as explaining each process to the whole class. Very detailed notes which then enable students to go home with the confidence to work alone."

Fiona Hamill reviewed: Business candle making workshop - one to one

"I attended the Business Course, having previously taken the candle making workshop. This is a really comprehensive course and covers everything from practical candle making tips to the legal and technical requirements of making candles as a business. Kerry's enthusiasm and willingness to share her experience and knowledge was fantastic. To do Kerry justice, I think you must be prepared to do a bit of homework after this course and the fact that Kerry is willing to provide further support via email is an absolute bonus. Can't recommend highly enough."

Amanda Fyson reviewed: Felt Pictures-Painting with fibres - intro to 2D wet felting/felt making

"This workshop was a really good introduction to 2D felt making and Heather is an excellent teacher who has a lot of experience which she is happy to share with others who are just beginning on their felt making journey. Working with wool is lovely and Heather has a rainbow collection of coloured wool tops to choose from. With Heather's guidance I was amazed at the way we were able to produce such good felting pieces to take home. I love Heather's animal pictures using felt and I'd like to have a go at this next time but feel I'll need to put in some practice before that. Lots of delicious cake, flapjacks and a variety of teas were provided and all in all it was a very enjoyable afternoon spent with great company."

Daire Townend reviewed: Bespoke Interlined Curtains

"I spent the day with Janet, to learn to make interlined curtains. The course was truly excellent. I learnt so much - making a curtain from start to finish over the course of the day - and had such a very pleasant time throughout, that I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone else who wants to learn to make beautiful curtains. Janet really knows her stuff, and not only teaches you the right way to do things, but very helpfully points out the potential pit-falls to be avoided!"

Kevin McHale reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"A wonderful day given to me, as a birthday present, by my wife. Mark’s skilful instruction and infinite patience enabled us to come away with a beautiful hand-turned bowl. This was not the only product of the day, however. We both felt we had given our brains a good ‘work out’, learned new skills and enjoyed much fun. Fully recommend this course. It really was a great birthday gift."

Jamie Mould reviewed: Wood turning courses

"After mentioning to my wife I’d like to try woodturning, she very kindly gave me a birthday present of a day’s experience with George. She couldn’t have chosen better. My day with George started with a cup of tea (made by the delightful Sue), a nice chat and then straight into the workshop. George is a very patient, informative and knowledgeable teacher. He takes you through step by step of what is required to turn your first bowl and by the end of the day (after more tea and a delicious lunch) you walk away with a bowl that looks very professionally turned. As a consequence of this day’s experience I am now a proud owner of my own lathe and spend rather a lot of time in my shed now!!!"
