Moon gazing/sitting willow hare (or rabbit) sculpture workshop New Forest
Description
We all are familiar with the notion of a march hare and rarely have the opportunity to see one. Join me to create a sitting or moon-gazing hare, an animal steeped in mystery and storytelling, and a lovely addition to your home or garden. Students will learn a variety of techniques, including a variety of basketry techniques and freeform weaving. The workshop is suitable for anyone who is new to willow sculpture as well as those with little experience. I like to keep my attendee numbers low to enable me to provide support and advice where needed. Please note that working with willow can be tiring on the hands and will be difficult for you to do if you have conditions such as arthritis. If you want to attend one of the workshops and there are no dates please get in touch with me, and I will add your details to my waiting list just in case a space becomes available. Please note that workshops need to be booked a week in advance to allow me to soak and prepare the willow, after this date please get in touch with me before booking a place

FAQs
It is often best to start with an activity that offers a variety of small items or a larger shape that is relatively straightforward such as a bird workshop
You are welcome to join us for a more detailed workshop but please be aware that you may not make such a detailed version as someone who has more experience
If you are someone who prefers working on small precise works I suggest starting with the workshops where we create several smaller items e.g Xmas crafts, garden items, small birdhouses, baskets, etc. For those of you who like to experiment and see what happens, you might prefer something more sculptural to be fair there is no one way and you never know until you try it will be fun which ever you decide to do.
I usually find that making a small item can be difficult for anyone who has problems with grip,/ fine motor skills / small movements, if your not sure please contact me
We often use our thighs to hold items so if this a problem for you please let me know. also working on large items can be quite tiring as it can be quite physical.
If you are not sure please feel free to contact me and we can chat through the options that might work for you before you book a place
