Willow Swallows wall hanging half day workshop with Joe Gregory
Description
I've been running this very popular half day sculpture course with the RHS and Women's Institute groups for a number of years. I've decided to run it in my studio in Yorkshire last year and they were a great success so I've decided to run just 2 more this year :) You will learn everything you need to know to create your own small bird sculptures in a fun friendly and relaxed working environment. These iconic birds fly over every summer to nest here all the year from Africa. They have a very distinct shape and unique call. Such a happy sight to welcome back each summer. These birds will look beautiful on a wall, in the garden or as a small flock! Suitable for beginners and those with some Weaving experience a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Come alone and meet other craft folk or come with a friend or two for a special day together. You'll be able to take more willow home to create more at the end of the session

Maker
Hi my name is Joe Gregory, I'm a willow basket maker and sculptor based in West Yorkshire. I started weaving as a hobby in 2004 and by 2008, I realised I could make a living doing a craft that I loved. Starting from my kitchen table to now owning a 5 storey Georgian building in the centre of Todmorden; weaving with Willow has provided me with the most rewarding career whilst enabling me to keep my family safe and healthy. I teach sculpture and basket making for everyone from beginners to more advanced weavers. I have also been lucky enough to teach internationally, as well as up and down the country. I've worked on some amazing projects over the years and feel very lucky to have found this beautiful craft. I am comfortable teaching children; beginners and more advanced weavers. Each class rewards me in different ways. I have been fortunate to teach those with different needs; from sight problems, to people returning from a stroke, to those with their own special needs. I am always happy to craft my class to suit everyone I teach.
