Upholstery Summer School (5 day course)

X

Description

This week long upholstery course is designed to offer students 5 days of upholstery tuition, then finishing early so you can go and enjoy all that the local area has to offer. We hope that it will attract both local students and those from further afield who would love to explore Cheddar Gorge and the surrounding Western Mendip Hills and cities like Wells and Bath. Details of where to stay locally will be sent out with our further information sheet, see below. All our classes are suitable for the complete beginner as well as improvers and with 5 days of tuition it is a great opportunity to get stuck into a new project or complete something already underway. Students work on their individual projects and are expected to bring a piece of furniture to work on. Jill can advise on the suitability of individual projects and full details of what to expect and what is included will be sent out on booking or request (please message me via the 'message the tutor' button). The types of projects suitable for the complete beginner would be a footstool/piano stool, dining chair, arm-less or fireside chair, for example. They can be either modern or antique, depending upon what you’d like to have a go at as we teach both modern and traditional upholstery techniques. If you cannot find a piece, let me know, as I have a number of chairs in my workshop that you might like. Learning upholstery can be tremendous fun as well as a lot of hard work, but the thrill of restoring an old chair and turning it into a beautiful, functional and even artistic creation can be extremely rewarding! We have a passion for upholstering, and we like to think that all of our students end up sharing this passion…
