Description
Learn to upholster your own chair using traditional techniques and materials. The course, which is suitable for all levels of ability especially novices and beginners, is run in a friendly environment where you work at your own pace and socialise with fellow students. With low student to tutor numbers (max 4 students in a class) to ensure you have tuition and guidance all through your project. The upholstery studio is based in a rural setting overlooking the Warwickshire countryside. All traditional standard stuffing materials used on your project are included in the course fee. Top fabrics and trimmings are not included. But I have accounts with some fabric suppliers and sell their fabrics at competitive prices. Before booking on this course please look at the Project Assessment Session on my other course listing. This session must be completed before booking onto the upholstery course. It is a vital one-to-one session where you discuss your upholstery project with your tutor before starting on your chair. We will discuss time scales in conjunction with your experience, and any personal reasonable adjustments you may require. It will assess whether your project will need any remedial work such as frame restoration and show wood polishing, and give a chance to consider suitable top fabrics and where to source them. Before booking this Project Assessment Session, please message me first with a picture of your chair so we can have our initial discussion about your project. See FAQs if you have cold or cough at the time of your session.

I trained as a cabinetmaker 50 years ago. As a mature student, I obtained a first class honours degree in antique furniture conservation and restoration. I set up my business, Peter White Furniture, where for the last 20 years I have been restoring and upholstering antique furniture for clients. Now in my upholstery studio, and under the name of 'The upholstery tutor' I offer upholstery courses where students will learn to upholster their own chair using traditional techniques and materials. Based in a rural setting overlooking the Warwickshire countryside.

FAQs
Please do not attend the session if you have any symptoms of a cold or cough. This is for the protection of myself and your fellow students. Message or call me stating you're ill and I can reschedule your session.
If I have a cold or cough I will contact all students the day before, or earlier, and cancel the session. I will then reschedule that session, with you, to a date after I've recovered.
Each year from the 6th April the price of my sessions will increase by a small amount to cover the increased prices of my overheads.
Any sessions booked for after the 6th April but paid for before the 6th April will be charged at the lower price.
Each person attending my course pays for their session. Each person has to have their own chair to work on.
