Small Treasure Baskets: A Well Being Weaving Day
Description
At Cowshed Creative in the Lake District, we run an extensive range of art, craft and heritage workshops in our beautifully converted art studio on our traditional Lakeland farm near Windermere and Kendal. Enjoy learning to make a small treasure basket in a beautiful and peaceful natural setting. You will use the twining technique that has a calm, meditative flow, working with bark and various natural plant fibres. The soothing repetition of this old weave can help our busy heads calm and focus on the flow and rhythm of our handiwork. This state also allows us to connect with each other in an unhurried way, tapping into a centuries old tradition of crafting with natural materials in a small group and sharing our experience. Hannah Ehlert trained for three years in a coppice worker apprenticeship with a variety of crafts people at the Bill Hogarth Memorial Trust. She has run successful creative green wood-working courses for fifteen years, including; hazel wattle hurdles, Swedish spoons and greenwood carving and baskets and willow structures in the garden. She also runs family and adult Nature Connection courses and works as a qualified Forest School practitioner. The workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, in a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Treat yourself to a creative experience. From the fantastic and consistent feedback we have received, you are sure to have a great day!
