Description
During the 3 to 3 1/2 hour session the pair of you will learn basic skills of cutting, forming, soldering and texturing silver to form a piece of jewellery of your choice. Silver is a soft metal and a joy to work with as it will bend easily or take an impression or stamp with ease. This means the design possibilities are endless so we can work to your leave of ability and to a style you admire. I will demonstrate techniques but this is very much a hands-on workshop where you will be doing all the work on your piece. After a refreshment break you will finish your piece by sanding and polishing it to a dazzling shine, before taking it home. It is a workshop for two people in my studio, based in Ely Cambridgeshire. You can choose to make a necklace, ring, narrow bangle or earrings. If you want to make a larger item that requires extra silver, an additional cost will be incurred on the day. I will need advance notice of your requirement to ensure I have sufficient stock of silver. I have designs suitable for men and women so you may wish to make something for yourself or as a gift for someone special. We can discuss ideas when you book the session. I can be flexible with time and dates. I can supply a voucher if it is a gift. The workshop is suitable for beginners, intermediates and over 18s.

Maker
I have been making silver jewellery for 6 years now and love it. My work includes lots of textures from stamping, riveting and hammering the silver and I like to pierce designs I have drawn into the metal. Workshops are relatively new to me but it is wonderful to lead pupils through the various techniques and see their delight as they gradually create a piece of jewellery they have made themselves. Its an honor to share the joy of jewellery making.
