Pewter jewellery making at Manchester Craft and Design Centre

X

Description

Join Ella to create your own pewter jewellery. Ella will guide you through the process of applying texture and pattern to pewter sheet using items such as lace, dried flowers and paper stencils using a traditional jewellers rolling mill. We will then shape the jewellery using piercing saws and hammers/formers before adding personalisation with letter punches. Finally we will solder on silver findings and polish so you can proudly wear your handcrafted pieces home. Ella is an award winning contemporary pewtersmith who established her practice in 2012. Suitable for beginners or those who have tried jewellery or silver work before.

What's included in the price?

During this workshop Ella will provide all tools, materials and metal. Ella will have a large selection for you to choose from but please do feel free to bring along interesting textures to try - items less than 5mm thick such as lace, paper stencils or dried leaves/petals (green fresh leaves don't work) work well. Teas, coffees, biscuits and aprons provided throughout the workshop. Manchester Craft and Design Centre is open to public with 20 craft studios. Please feel free to allow time before/after the workshop to browse the centre. Please wear closed toed shoes and layers for winter workshops as our Victorian building can get a little chilly.
