Needle Felted Hen Workshop (inc delicious lunch)
Description
Chickens are quirky and fun to needle felt due to all their amusing characteristics. Come join master felter, Cecily Kate and learn how to make your very own hen and capture the little conversations they have with each other; sometimes fussing and indignant, other times loud and broody (especially when laying eggs) but always content when having their head stroked or lazing in the sun. Making a hen is actually easier than it looks as their shape is less distinctive than their smaller chicks allowing more freedom and leeway to experiment with colours and features. You can also play with stylised feather patterns, dot designs and vibrant colours. This hen can be duplicated at home to a variety of sizes. You will make... • A gorgeous chicken with semi realistic beak, claws, legs, eyes and comb During this workshop you will learn… • How to wrap the wire armature and make sturdy claws and legs. • How to shape the core wool body form. • How to sculpt the wool into the distinctive chicken shape and blend subtle shades for feather effects • How to create realistic wattle and comb and eyes that have a glint of light in them using only wool and your needle (no glass eyes).
