Handheld Bronze Sculpture - Lost Wax Process Join us for an immersive, four-week workshop where you’ll transform your creative vision into a stunning bronze sculpture! In this hands-on series, you’ll explore the ancient art of lost wax casting, mastering each step of the process as you craft your unique handheld sculpture. Workshop Schedule: 1st Saturday: Wax Sculpting Kick off the workshop by bringing your ideas to life in wax. Guided by our experienced instructor, you’ll learn techniques for sculpting your own unique design. Let your creativity flow as you shape a personal talisman that resonates with you. 2nd Saturday: Spurring and Ceramic Shelling ~ On the second Saturday, we’ll focus on preparing your sculpture for casting. You’ll attach a wax running and rising system, essential for guiding the molten metal into your creation. Then, you’ll apply a ceramic shell investment, setting the stage for the transformation from wax to bronze. 3rd Saturday: Foundry Day ~ Experience the thrill of the foundry! In this exciting session, we’ll burn out the wax from the investment, preheat the ceramic shell, and melt bronze to pour into your mold. Witness the alchemy of turning your artistic vision into solid metal! 4th Saturday: Metal Sculpture Clean Up ~ The final day is all about refining your masterpiece. You’ll break open the ceramic shell and reveal your bronze sculpture. We’ll guide you through the cleaning process—sandblasting, cutting off the spurring system, and finishing touches like polishing or applying patina to achieve your desired aesthetic.
